Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes.
Over the next couple of weeks after her death, I found myself being carted from Vancouver to Seattle and back again to help plan the funeral services and such.
The service was wonderful. My aunt was a civilian contractor in the US military so we had the chaplain from the naval base where she worked come in and run the service. I suspect he was a friend of my aunt from the stories he shared with us about her. He went to great lengths to make sure that everything related to Chinese traditions were upheld. He was a very pleasant guy.
One of the interesting things about this funeral was how the family came together and tried to chip in, either financially or otherwise. One of my aunt's daughter's boyfriend created this beautiful 18th century-styled book that he binded himself. I drew a portrait of her and her two daughters that was put on the program. At the committal, not only did everyone take part in the ceremonial burying part but all the cousins, and some of my aunt's daughter's friends took part in fully burying her. We also packed down the dirt and soil before laying down sod over it. The groundskeeper noted in his 3 decades of working in cemeteries, he has never seen a full burial AND aftermath gardening.
I'm finally glad that she's able to rest peacefully.

I guess it's kind of been obvious now. I've been lurking more on LJ rather than writing. I kind of lost the motivation to do so. It's strange...I used to post about all the useless tidbid little things that happened in my life, but now...don't feel like doing it so much. I'll still read up on LJ but probably won't post except on rare occasions.

July 6
Cloudy until noon. The sun came out and became more warm and sunny as the day wore on. As we were driving back to Vancouver from Seattle. The sun shone in our area with a perimeter of clouds about 50+ km away.
