Red Rocks Pt. 2

As we waited we could hear the sound check. There was one song we didn’t recognize, and couldn’t figure out if it was new or a new cover song. Then we heard “Together” and “Unsaid” from Reason EP being practiced and many fans waiting in line started to get very excited. About 45 minuets before the doors were about to open, Heather and I take our stuff back to the car and then walked down to the Trading Post to see what was going on at the radio tables. As we were down there we hear a lot of screaming from the stage. When we get back we find out that they were filming the people standing in line singing “How To Save A Life” and interviewed Phil and Jenny on the story of the shirts. (lol Of course we missed that…) Phil and Jenny had found Julie and Cheryl (other board members) were standing further up in the line. They invited us to sit with them. We had been told that they would open the doors at 5 so when that time came around people started getting ancy and everyone stood up. We then stood plastered together for half an hour, and the people waiting started to get rowdy.
Red Rocks then did a very stupid thing. They checked everyone’s bags and ripped rickets all the way down the line. Then when the appointed time came we were told “Do not trip, no trampling. I do not want to write incident reports,” by the guards and then…they let us go. Hundreds of people in mass ran to the front few rows, shoving each other and cussing each other out in attempts to muscle into a good seat. I ran to the second or third row but was shoved out of my seat by some girl. I then looked around trying to find the others and see Jenny trying to protect some seats in the front row a little to the left of Joe’s mic. I join her as well as Heather, Phil, and Julie and we scrunch into the small space. Cheryl had managed to get dead center front row so she opted to stay there. The guards put special coloured wristbands on the people in the first and second row, which is very helpful to avoid unnecessary conflict of people trying to steal seats later on in the show. (I was very thankful for this, as the last time we went to Red Rocks we had a few issues with drunk jerks.) We then talk while waiting for the show to start.
While we were waiting Mamasocks (Ben’s mom) comes over to talk to us with another woman who I haven’t met before. We find out it is Mamacita (Dave’s mother.) We hugged them and talked for a bit about the Fray Board, how things have changed, and congratulating the guys on their success. Mamasocks told us about how Ben called his older sister and told her “I’m not going to wear any socks, because I’m going to rock them off!” Which she responded with “I can’t believe you just said that.” It’s always a joy to see mamasocks and to get to talk with her. Meeting members of The Fray family is incredible because you just know how the guys are such nice people and how they’ve staid real through their success is due to these amazing people! For me, I like The Fray, not because of their music or success, but just because all the guys are incredibly kind, intelligent, and just…real. I can’t think of any other people who have worked so hard, and deserve all this success.
