There are two people in my life that I interact with and depend on most. Both of them happen to be extremely forgetful and have a nasty habit of canceling plans on me. This time it just happens to be my dad.
He's done this a million times, I don't know why I let it upset me anymore. This time just happens to involve someone else. So I sold our extra couch to a friend of mine from my Poetry class. Awesome, we can finally get that hunk of junk out of the overcrowded livingroom, right? Well, that WOULD have been the case had my father remembered that J doesn't have a truck or van, and that I'd be driving the couch over to him and his wife in my dad's van.
Dad left for Big Bear for the weekend today.
He took the van.
And he won't postpone his trip with his girlfriend to stay and let me have his van. Of course not. Why on earth would he stay away from her to help his daughter keep a promise? Oh, right. Cause that would be logical and unselfish, of which my father is neither. Fantastic. So friday I get to explain to J why he won't have a couch for another weekend.
This is about the third time this month he's forgotten that I needed something. No wonder my sister moved out and never came home.
dad,
