One Of Those Days

Today's Writing Effort

I started Thumper on his medications this morning. Getting him to take the oral pain medication was ... tough. He got a little bit of it though. And I have a plastic enclosed foam pad to put under the towels on the bathroom floor so that it's softer on his little paws. Well, it's on order and should be here by Sunday.

After getting all the morning chores done, I arranged for a tow truck to come out to Bastion's place and help with the Volkswagen. He managed to get the car jumped with the tow truck's beefier engine. Then he left and I transferred my things to the VW to drive it to Midas just to get the battery checked and see if it needed to be replaced. When I got there, I got checked in and then went to get a gyro at the #1 Gyro place on 5th street. When I went to pay, I couldn't find my credit card. I had used it to pay the tow truck driver for the jump, but it was not in my wallet or my purse or in my pockets. I had my backup card, so that was good. But it wasn't in the VW either, as far as I could determine. Thankfully, I had a coupon for a free battery check and the battery turned out to be fine as long as Bastion doesn't leave the headlights on again.

Oh, and at some point, someone hit a pothole really hard and bent the front passenger side wheel. The tire may be okay, but the wheel is toast. They had to put the spare tire on. Now the car can't go above 50mph without blowing the spare tire. I made sure to communicate that very clearly. A couple of times.

So, the Midas guy found a gently used wheel in Oregon, and I told him to order it. When it comes in, I'll have to work out how to get the VW to Midas to get it put on and get the studded snow tire back on and the spare put back in the trunk. *Le Sigh*

I dropped the VW back at Bastion's place and gave him the key and told him what was going on and then I looked around for my credit card. No joy. And then I took the Mini home. When I got there, James opened his mail and I started the fire and Thumper's laundry, and then James and I went to Albertson's to pick up his medication. I didn't really want to go, but I wanted to spend time with him, and this was the only way to do it. It's also the reason why I hung out with him in his room while he packed to go to Las Vegas on Monday.

In order for him to pack more effectively, I had to do his laundry tonight instead of tomorrow. Though putting away his pants is going to have to wait until tomorrow since they didn't get done in the dryer until after he went to bed. In fact, the dryer got done just about the time I was done with the evening animal chores.

Oh, and I had to cancel my credit card and order a new one. *Le Sigh* At least it should be here before I go to Las Vegas.
