Today's Writing Effort

The weather lately has been so ... extra. First, we finally get snow. I mean, I have to break out the shovel and James had to plow. Finally. Not that I like snow, but I know that we need it if I don't want to spend all summer worried that the forest is going to burn our house down. But today, it was in the mid 40's and we got rain. RAIN! And lots of wind. It was so windy that it ripped off the tarp on top of part of the rabbitry that I had bungeed on top to keep the wet out. (There are a couple of little holes that someone drilled into the sheet metal, and there's no wood underneath, so any snow or rain just drips all over my poor bunnies.) I had to get the ladder out to reattach the tarp and bungee cords. That was ... an adventure. I also had to replace a zip tie to a different tarp that is over the duck/geese water bowls. I put it up in the summer to give them a little shaded area, but it might prove useful in the winter if we don't get a lot of wet, heavy snow overnight.

Anyway, I was supposed to do a dump run today, but the wind and rain were too much. The trees were swaying so hard that I'd be surprised if none of them broke out there in the woods. So, I just worked on my crochet today after I got done with animal chores and other morning duties. I ran out of yarn for Bastion's ear warmer, but I need to try it on his head to see if it's too wide anyway. If it is, then I'll have to frog the whole thing and start over, which sucks but is all part of the craft. If it isn't too big, then I'll order more yarn and finish it up from there.

In the meantime, I've got my Autumnal Placemats to make. I'm going to make a set of eight, which is the max number of adults that we can fit at our table. I think.
