Today's Writing Effort Today was a bit of a day. I tried wearing James' boots to go out to the back yard and break the ice on the chicken water bowl. When I went outside, I discovered that James had left the bottom cage door open in column four of the rabbitry when he brought Thumper inside to put him in the isolation cage in the laundry room. So, I checked and two rabbits got out, but I actually caught them quite easily because of James' idea to put wire mesh around the supports for the rabbitry. Even with a broken toe and in boots way too big for me, I managed it. Go me!
I had back-to-back doctor appointments this afternoon. One was a follow up for the General Surgeon who did my lumpectomy last year. He's a nice fellow. After that, I had an MRI of the breast and that was long and boring and I'm glad I only have to do it once a year.
When that was all done, I went to Murdoch's and got a couple of bags of feed for the animals. That's about all that I can fit in my mini. If I had thought about it, I might have tried to take the VW so that I could get more. Then again, hauling 400 pounds of feed around is probably more than I should be doing with a broken toe.
After Murdoch's I went to Walmart to get wrapping paper for Yule. No,
priapussy, I'm not using the red reindeer wrapping paper. ;)
I was finally able to swing by Albertson's to get James' medication and to put a letter into the mail for him and then I went home.
There was one incident today that I'm still noodling about. Before I went to town, I made myself some tea. And I accidentally splashed some onto my hand and the counter. I said a swear word or two because it was fucking hot. Jenny called down to me from the loft saying "Could you please not swear. It stresses me out." I told her about the tea and that was it. But the thing is, that there are some things about my life that are constantly stressing me out like having the deep seeded need to have a tidy home and living with three people who seem constitutionally not inclined to be tidy. James at least tries and mostly succeeds in being tidy. Jenny doesn't appear to make a lot of effort at all, and Sappho is four. But she's learning bad habits from her mom in this regard.
I talked with James about the incident in the evening after Jenny and Sappho went to bed, just to get it off my chest and that's going to be that unless Jenny brings it up in some way.
There was some excellent news today though. I got some new yarn in the mail. At Bastion's birthday dinner, I promised him a hat and scarf set for his belated birthday gift. He actually wanted an earwarmer instead of a hat, which is totally fine. So he picked out the patterns and the yarn and the yarn arrived today! I'm super excited. I haven't crocheted in nearly two months. Time to get back in the saddle.
