Too Exhausted To Brain

Today's Writing Effort

Again with the no sleep. Hell, I didn't even bother to get out of my clothes or get under the covers. I just grabbed the footie blanket and slept on my bed, not in it, in my clothes.

When I was dropping Bastion off at work at 2:30am, I noticed that the plow was having trouble staying up. I thought that it was maybe that the buttons on the controller were being pressed somehow, but that didn't seem to be it. I didn't give it much thought and went home to try to get a little more rest. I didn't even hope I would get any sleep. I got home a little after 3:15am and fed the fire, then laid down. But I had to get up at 6:00am to get ready to get Bastion from work. On the way home from picking him up, I stopped to get gas for the truck. I had to use two different pumps because the first one stopped working. After I filled up the tank, I tried to lift the plow blade, which had dipped down again. I could not.

I tried to get a hold of James, but his phone was off or something, but Bastion managed to get a message through. I had a glimmer of hope that I might be able to take the back roads to Ace Power Pros, even with the plow all the way down, but I couldn't even really make it to the intersection with the frontage road. So, I pulled back into the Trucker Mall parking lot, where I had lots of room for a tow truck to get to me, and I finally got a call from James.

Jenny hadn't left for her trip yet, so she came to pick him up and take him home before she took off for Minneapolis. I got a little rest while waiting for the tow guy to show up, and I had a couple of hot dogs from the Trucker Mall for breakfast. It wasn't great, but it was something at least. The tow guy winched up the plow and got it locked into place in the upright position so that I could drive to Ace Power Pros and have them look at the plow. Apparently, all the hydraulic fluid had been leaking out since sometime yesterday.

I got to Ace Power Pros and the guy there determined that one of the seals inside the cylinder was shot, which happens from wear and tear usually. I left the plow there so that we could at least use the truck if we needed to, even though we're fucked if we get more snow before we get the plow back. They ordered a new part from Billings, and it will be here early next week, and once they get the part replaced, then they'll put the plow back on and we'll be back in business.

So, I went home and rushed through the chores I should have been able to do in the morning. And I took a shower and changed my clothes and felt moderately more human. I wanted a nap, but I had to do a grocery run instead.

After that, I got to relax at least a little bit other than evening chores and clarinet practice. James and I got to spend a little time together in the evening, and we watched another episode of The Wire, which I'm really digging. It's a shame that I didn't see it while it was running on tv.
