Today's Writing Effort I got up at 6:00am Pacific and finished packing up my things. I had my clothes for today all laid out and it was easy enough to put everything away for my trip home. Justin got up and I finished breakfast and he drove me down to the Greyhound/Amtrak station down in Fairhaven.
priapussy was still asleep when we left. Justin dropped me off and helped me in with my bag. Then we said our goodbyes and I was left to wait for my bus to arrive.
When the service window opened up, I got a tag for my checked bag and when the bus arrived, I got on and got a pretty good seat. You don't want to be too much to the front because you'll get blasted with cold air every time the door opens. And you don't want to be too near the back by the toilets because of the smell. Right in the middle is the sweet spot.
I spent most of the trip down to Seattle napping. I was still pretty tired after not getting much sleep the night before. Any time I travel, I have a poor time sleeping. Once we got to Seattle, we changed busses for the next leg of the trip. I didn't get a very good seat this time because the bus was so packed, and our bus was a little bit late arriving in Seattle. I had to sit next to some young guy and I had the isle seat, which meant no napping until the bus emptied out enough for me to get a window seat.
The trip was largely uneventful. We stopped long enough in Ellensburg for me to get a sandwich at the Subway around lunch time. Then we had an hour long stop in Spokane and I went to a place about a block away called
The Onion and I got the Beef Onion Bisque. It was really good and if anyone is ever in that neck of the woods, I would give it a try. While I was at the Spokane terminal, I met a gal who was traveling with her cat who she said was a service animal. It was a nice kitty on a leash so that he could stretch his legs and not be in his carrier all the time.
Once we re-boarded in Spokane, I was able to get a window seat and the isle seat free for my bag and I tried hard to nap as much as possible. It was difficult for some reason and I was in a half-doze for most of the rest of the trip to Missoula.
When I got to Missoula, Jenny picked me up and drove us home and I got the 411 on what had been going on while I was gone. Bastion hadn't cleaned the litter box at all. In fact, no one had. It was gross when I got home but I was too tired to do anything about it before I went to bed. And my poor babies had been forced into a radically different feeding schedule. I got home and no one had fed them all day. Also, they apparently only get wet food now. I'm not sure I approve of this, but I'm willing to give it a shot for a while to see how things go. If they're ravenous in the mornings, I might go back to giving them a little bowl of kibble as something to snack on when all the wet food is gone.
Thank goodness for group texts though so that I could keep James, Jenny, Dan, Jory, and Justin appraised of my progress home so that they wouldn't worry too much and so that Jenny would know if I was going to be on time or not.
It was good to sleep in my own bed, but I wish that James had been there with me. He's still in California though, until Sunday.
