Let's see.....K, Prom: I asked Cat to Prom last Friday after 5th, I filled up her locker with Teddybears and a CD with the song "Teddybear" by Elvis since that is her fav. Elvis song, plus a little note. Today she replied with a comic page (not a book because it was only 1 pg, lol) with a big fat Yes! Hahaha, take that Kyle! He said he would've mocked me forever if she said no so in your face! lol.

My that is clever :)

Moving on, I've been thinking lately (which is always dangerous) and I've decided that, perhaps due to my continued exposure or just because, I really do like the Coast Guard and wouldn't mind being in it. Now, the second part of that thought is whether or not I really want to go to the Academy. I've been there and yes, it is a really amazing place full of opportunities and what not but my first love has and always will be art, specifically sequential art. Now, as it turns out, last week we had a career fair and lo and behold guess who was there..that's right, you guessed it, the Coast Guard! Interestingly enough I was wearing my Coast Guard shirt and I think I might've been bugging the army guy when I told my friend to join the Coast Guard right in front of him. But that's besides the point, anyways, I talked to the guy there, naturally, and I told him who i was and what i was doing and such and asked about any other ways of becoming an Officer besides the academy. Suprisingly, he said ya and told me to go to the USCG website and there was a bunch of stuff. The one thing that really caught me eye though was the CSPI program. The CSPI program, for those who don't know allows the participant to go to the college of their choice, as long as they have a certian percant of minorities, and after that person pays for the first 2 years, the CG will pay for the 3rd and 4th year in full. After graduation, it's OCS and then 3 years in active duty. What I love about this is that it'll allow me to go to SCAD, get my degree in art, and still please my dad and my inner desires by becoming a trained leader and officer in the Coast Guard which is my preferred military branch. Now, the big question is....whether or not I should, after NMMI, continue on the Academy or switch to the CSPI program? Both would get me to the same end result, it's just the paths are different. Since the CGRIT program is not binding, I believe, i still have this option open, and as Ms. Robinett pointed out earlier, if i did that, it would allow someone else who is 110% positive they want to go to USCGA the chance to go. Still thinking...... (PS- Ms. Robinett, your thoughts would be much appreciated on this subject)

As for work, it's going pretty good. I just found out that Heidi, Lian, and Alisha will be our managers this summer which is pretty good. Alas, we erased the collage of Life Guardians from the board...it shall be sorely missed. Oh well, I just draw something new tomorrow. And swim team is ok, me and kyle, well mostly just Kyle, are trying to get faster so we don't look like idiots at regionals. Fun stuff. I'm either going to start swimming with a shirt on or trailing a bucket behind me. Whichever works. Oh ya, Life is good :D
