An Interesting Afternoon at the Hospital...

Yesterday, I went in to have my endoscopy. This is the closest I've been to actually being admitted to the hospital. Thank God Kenny took the day off to be there for me-I was scared to death. I have never been to the O.R. before, and I've never been put to sleep before. We got to the hospital around 12:45 and I was given a hospital gown and a room. I settled into the bed and just talked with Kenny for about an hour wondering when someone would come to see me, then a nurse came in to give me the IV-in the hand. That hurts!!! I've only had one IV before and that was in the arm. The nurse swore to me that would be the worst of the whole process. Kenny and I sat talking for about another hour, then an O.R. nurse came in with a gurney (that ride was another first for me) to take me for the procedure. Kenny kissed me on the forehead and off I went to the O.R....which was...interesting to say the least. My knees were knocking so hard I almost answered 'em! No joke-I was terrified. A couple of nurses hooked me up to a heart monitor and told me not to worry that they'd take really good care of me. I relaxed a bit after that because they were so super nice to me. Then, the anesthiesiologist came in and told me that he was going to give me something to help me relax and then he'd give me the stuff to put me to sleep. I don't even remember closing my eyes-the next thing I knew, I turned my head to see one of the nurses and she said "Hi Krystal-we're done. Welcome back!"...I was confused and loopy of course. I thought that it was so strange that I didn't remember ever being asleep. The anesthiesiologist never told me that he was putting me out. Knowing how scared I was, maybe that was best. The nurse took me back to my room and then I ate and had my vitals taken again and was there for another hour and then, the nurses let me sign out. Through all this, Kenny ande I discovered that there's nothing wrong with my stomach. I have an appointment on the 27th for an ultrasound to look at my gall bladder, and I have to make an appointment for a colonoscopy if that doesn't turn up anything. More fun. *sighs*
