My Year In Review: In Case You Missed It! (2010 Edition)

Jan 01, 2011 23:20

January:
-The year started off with a bang, you know the sort, it goes off too soon and you lose a limb? A friend had planned to fly me down for a visit in Texas, and it got called off not quite last minute, but close enough to leave me really disappointed.
-Relationship troubles.
-Tried to get myself back in to a exercise routine. I didn't make it a resolution, but an experiment to take a "year in bellies".
-I spent far too many times reading, and rereading The Southern Vampire Mysteries (TrueBlood), and picking out inconsistencies.
-Our heater broke and I swear I almost froze to death in my own home.
-I tried out the Star trek MMO. Notice I said "tried out".

February:
-Week 3 of workouts. I've already skipped a day, forgotten to take my vitamins, and caved in to taking a weekly belly picture rather than a daily one.
-I Learned about a band called Hollerado, when they filmed a music video at our friends the Lishman's underground house. The song is called "Juliette" and features Lois Lane/Margot Kidder.
-I made my first pie of any sort for Valentine's Day - a coconut creme one. I failed my first attempt, but found better instructions the second time and succeeded in an awesome way.

March:
-Ray/Morgan Lynn, CaSondra, and her boyfriend Eric stayed with me for spring break. We went to Niagara Falls, went to the Hard Rock Cafe, had fun posing with the statues at Madame Tussuad's, and I bought a sweet coin belly dancing top. Next day we went to Toronto's Chinatown, CN Tower, and Woody's gay bar (for my recently de-closeted friend Ray). Sondra and Eric had to leave early, and Ray and I went to a taping of MTV|Live and watched Hollerado perform. They were 10 kinds of awesome, and I got to meet about half the band afterward. Spring break rounded out with me doing a drag shoot with Ray, which I found out later was instrumental in helping him realize his gender identity was female and he started transitioning from then on.
-Dave had gastric bypass surgery, which left him stupidly bruised for about 5 months, but in turn helped him lose (currently) 140lbs.

April:
-My niece, Heather gave birth to an adorable baby girl, Addison Renee, making me a Great-Aunt.
-I shot with high-fashion photographer Vincent Lions. A week later I shot with soon-to-be-graduating Jon Sippel. I loved shooting with Jon so much, but it made me wish my soot with Vincent had gone better. Things were conspiring against us that day, we were both sick, I was stressed, and between him talking to himself in French, and my poor hearing, it was hard to collaborate. Such a shame since he's so talented.

May:
-Daniel unfriended myself, Paula, and Erika with no explanation. I know he started dating a new girl, so that has my suspicion, but he still emails me every now and again, which threw me off.
-Dave finally asked me to model for him again. Unfortunately his vision for the shoot is not easily achieved.
-On a trip to Michigan, I ran in to my ex and had lunch with him. It wasnt nearly as awkward as I expected it to be.

June:
-I found out that having a double uvula is a last minute lucky mistake away from having a cleft palate. The hard palates fuse, but the soft tissues dont quite make it, leaving the uvula split. Having a double uvula has a slew of problems it brings with it, but I've been mercifully spared from pretty much all but a minor speech impediment (it makes it impossible to mimic certain verbal noises like rolling R's).
-I found out a friend I drifted away from lost her fiance to quick moving cancer, then a badly timed e.coli infection when he was weak from chemo.
-Ontario, Quebec, or northern NY state experienced a 5.5 magnitude earth quake. I thought my blood sugar was low and that I was shaking. I didnt even know there was a fault line anywhere near this part of North America.
-Around 5:30 the day of the earthquake, I posted this on my twitter:"Sheesh, first an earthquake and now LIGHTENING? What next, a tornado? Or maybe a flood?" Well, I just turned on the news and found out that not one, but TWO tornado's touched down north of Toronto.

July:
-We hosted a huge summer BBQ. Our house was PACKED. I finally got to meet Paula's illusive husband Ian, and Dave's friend Little Dave. Both now regularly talk to me on WoW.
-I went to Albany, NY for a porn/webgirl/model meet and greet hosted by Jade38H. I have such a huge girl crush on her now, she's adorable!!
-I decided to do a shoot in my (30lbs?) wedding dress on the hottest day of the whole friggin year. And we had to hike up and down hills for quite a ways to get to our shooting location. That was a mistake. I'm surprised I had any pics turn out at all!!

August:
-One of my oldest friends, Missy, went in to the hospital for heart problems, and they never conclusively found out what was wrong with her.
-I won tickets to Sausagefest in Toronto. I saw The salads, and Finger Eleven (who did an awesome encore medley of "Paralyzer", Franz Ferdinand's "Take me Out", Led Zeppelin's "Trapped Under Foot", and Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall") perform. Die Mannequin was so terrible it made me leave the building.
-I went to Toronto's Fan Expo dressed as a (white) Uhura from Star Trek ToS, I met Victor_Lucas of G4, Operative274 of Deviantart (who has drawn for webcomic "Least I Could Do"), writer Keith R.A. DeCandido, and hung out with a jedi who had no qualms against "cross pollinating" when it comes to his fictional universes (we got pics together, which are now featured on the Thinkgeek.com page for the Uhura dress I'm wearing). The latter two have since become good friends. I got picked out of a crowd by a FanExpo camera man because I was wearing a Trek uniform in a room full of people there to see Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca). I also got to sit in on a panel featuring William Shatner :)

September:
-My 23rd birthday snuck up on me. Dave was well prepared though, he got me the camera bag I have been wanting for a long time, the movies "Kick-Ass", and "Star Trek (2009)", and some gorgeous exotic flowers.
-Dave got funny drunk and yelled "KHAAAAAAAN!" before falling over sideways while I laughed.
-I got 3 teeth pulled: my upper back wisdom teeth, and one front and center on the bottom.
-I got braces on my top teeth, and a bite place (a retainer kinda thing) that goes underneath my tongue. Day 1 I popped one of the brackets off my tooth, and it left me freaking out. I was told not to worry since they were dubious as to whether it'd stick right in the first place. The bite plate has left me with a bit of a lisp that annoys the crap out of me, and also has left me unable to eat red meat, unless its ground up.

October:
-Started losing weight from having a more limited diet, due to braces.
-Had my 3rd anniversary with Dave.
-Shot with photographer Jim Learoyd. (Who didnt know I didnt shoot porn till mid shoot).
-Met model/acquaintance of Dave Curvy Scarlette. She's a pretty alright chick, and might be moving close by soon.
-Attended my sister-in-laws funeral. I'd be sad, but she was a huge bitch to everyone.
-Won tickets to see Anberlin/Crash Test Kings/Civil Twilight. Went with friend Steve Weitermen. Had an *interesting conversation* on the ride home.
-Dave got me a Xbox 360, and Fable 3 for an early Christmas gift.
-Subsequently lost a week of my life to that game.
-Made Christmas cards on Halloween.

November:
-TrueBlood/HBO retweeted me, and I got a comic book from them because of it, unfortunately it was one I bought at FanExpo.
-I checked in on my stepbrother, who's actually been doing pretty well, he's visiting the family more often now (For holidays, since his wife had been Jehovah's, and they dont celebrate anything), and spending a lot more time with his daughter.

December:
-Had a giant tree in our yard cut down before it fell down, it was literally half rotted out inside.
-Had a freak-out on Dave, bawled, told him everything that had been bothering me for a while, but after calming down, we're working out all of my worries. Its opened up a bit of a can of worms lol.
-Had an awesome time at the Treehouse Christmas party. I didnt expect to be talking about porn and Monty Python with a bunch of authors. Also found out one of the authors wives and I are eerily similar, which might also explain why myself and this author get along well. What amuses me is she's a trophy wife...I didnt think of myself like that, but I guess a lot of people might view me that way (in relation to Dave).
-Demonica de Morte's (good friend/model) fiance finally proposed to her on Christmas.
-Had a "fun" week with Dave off from work. We did many a thing, and went to Casa Loma in Toronto (one of the filming locations for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World).
-Spent Christmas at Dave's dad's (with a bunch of people I didnt know, but turned out to be cool anyway), and later Dave's mom (boooooring). Dave's dad and step-mom gave me a lovely purse and a gift card for my favorite mall - to which I put to good use!
-Had a last minute New Years Eve party with Little Dave, Hannibal, Sandi, Dee, and their kid Izzy.
