Wacky mum things #4: my mum has been complaining about her tablet pc been slow and unresponsive, I had a play round with and had the same problem. Today she says its still been playing and a lightbulb went off in my head.
Me: mum when was the last time you actually turned off the device
Mum: I press the button the screen goes dark, thats right isnt it?!
Me: no, thats on standby
Mum: how do I turn it off then?
*shows her*
Me: how long has it been on standby for?...
Mum: erm......months?!
Me: well thatll be why then.
And I went on to explain why when a computer is left on and isnt shut down, the computer processing speed and processing memory will slow down and be unresponsive. Its a bit like being awake all the time and not being able to sleep, your functioning becomes affected.
Case closed lol
