Dominance and submission vs the Head and the Heart.
I've been reading some interesting posts on possible pairings in B7 lately. Most favourited is B/A , which didn't really surprise me. It is also the most problematic pairing, because not many fans see them happily living together as a couple. Maybe that's why people so fanatically ship B/A. It's

Do you notice that Blake is never seen to do anything purely social with any member of the crew? Not even sitting around just chatting? In fact we never see the crew do anything just social and relaxed unless Blake is not on the ship. The only times we do see them doing something social when Blake is on the ship is as a side thing while they are working. Avon though is seen to do that quite a bit, both in S1/S2 and mostly in S3/S4. Avon actually makes the effort to relate and socialize with the crew. But for some reason, Blake is seen as the one who is social and pleasant and Avon as a loner and aloof who doesn't even know how to be social. Well, not according to canon. It's actually the opposite. Which makes me really laugh when I see fic that keep stressing Avon was the antisocial loner and Blake was the social one doing all kinds of social things with the crew. Really, which show were they watching because it can't be B7 unless my copy of B7 is different from everyone elses?
Yes, in those days. The show would have been careful not to do anything of the sort or even give hints of it, but of course slashers can find hints even when they aren't meant to be. But even these days, you still don't hear the people on the show giving hints that there was any relationship like that. We do have PD saying in an old interview that the person most affected by Cally's death was Avon. Which I think is very clear in terms of what he thinks of Avon and Cally's relationship. And I think it is very clearly presented in the show too.
Other than the stunned look Avon has in The Web. We have Project Avalon. I think the scene where Avon finds Cally wounded and unconscious on the ground is very indicative, but it's the actions of Blake and Jenna in that scene that pretty much seal it for me. The door opens and the three of them see Cally unconscious, her head bleeding. Avon immediately rushes to her side and kneels down. He checks her out and then he gently brushes her face. When I slowed down that scene, there is clear concern on Avon's face. His face is relaxed. There isn't any hardness or blankness as there normally is when he's reacting to Blake. Watch Blake and Jenna's actions carefully. They see Cally and what do they do? Rush to her side? No. They don't move an inch. The first thing they both do is look at Avon. By then Avon is already rushing to Cally. They never once step inside the room or show any concern on their faces, unlike Avon. Then Blake leaves Avon to look after Cally. This tells me that Blake and Jenna both know Avon's feelings towards Cally by this point and don't want to interfere. This also is very much in keeping with Voice when Blake suggests that Avon and Cally are in collusion because of mutual affinities. Well, maybe because it's just more evidence that he knows Avon and Cally have a close relationship.
Other than for Avon and Blake and Avon and Vila, the third pairing you do find fics for is Avon/Cally and Avon and everyone else. Maybe it's because Jenna showed more clear in interest in Blake than Avon so we do get Jenna and Blake fics. But even then, not many of those either because there aren't many Blake fics that don't have Avon in it.
