Finally

How has it been so long since I updated? I know I planned to post about Deathly Hallows and a lot of other stuff. Then I seemed to get sidetracked by a million other things.

I've now seen this film 3 times and the more I see it the more I love it. To me the best thing about the series is the stuff that's added that's a little bit different or extra to the books. I mean, if you want the book, read the book. There has to be something different that makes you excited about the film, in my opinion.

That said, a lot of my favourite things about the book are in the film. Mainly, the Malfoys being utterly amazing - I love how broken Lucius and Narcissa are all the way through, how horrified they seem. When Voldemort asks Lucius how he lives with himself and how he answers... it's satisfying to me. I love that Draco refuses to move from Hogwarts for his father, but goes immediately when his mother asks him. I loved the scene in the Room of Hidden Things between Harry and Draco, and Ron calling Hermione his girlfriend. Ron and Hermione's first kiss was beautifully handled. It's exactly how I wanted it to be.

Neville is - as always - awesome on pretty much every level. I'm glad he was allowed his moment of glory. The students and teachers defending the castle was moving as well as exciting and funny. Seamus and Ron bickering about Ginny and Harry was a joy.

Of course, Snape's scenes were perfect. Snape's scenes are always perfect. The memories in the pensieve were beautifully done. I love the way the memories of Lily and his childhood and Dumbledore interwove with his memories of Harry over the years. The conflict was as painful as anything else.

All in all, I loved it. I thought it was a fitting end to the series. I just don't know what I'm going to do without any more books or films though.

Next Saturday we're having Virgin TV and internet installed. I'm very excited for the TiVo. I'm going to end up playing with it all weekend I know. I haven't had the ability to record anything from TV in about 7 years.

I've signed up for psychbigbang and am pretty excited about it. I have an idea and I've started on it, so I just need to make sure I actually finish. I'd really like to finish.

It's my birthday two weeks from today. \o/ I've treated myself to Community Season 2 and Psych Season 5. Hopefully they will come in time.

I was going to add Doctor Who thoughts, but I think I'll save that for another post. I really would like to post more than once every 6 weeks.
