It's back to work tomorrow sadly and one week until the new job kicks in. This is the worst part of year, but luckily I have a fantastic holiday to look forward to in March.
I haven't made any resolutions particularly. I have a list of things I want to do before I turn 30 which I'm going to concentrate on. I have nine months (almost) to accomplish a few things. I would also like to read more and hopefully bandom big bang will be starting again soon. I'd like to finish off a few fics I have in the works and continue to improve.
And just to wrap a few TV things up...
For the first time ever the second half of a RTD story was better than the first half, though to be honest, it was hard to see how it could be worse.
David Tennant and John Simm proved that you can make anything good if you have good actors, and every line of Doctor/Master conversation was made to sound like theirs was a love-story greater and more pure than Romeo and Juliet. Which I suppose it is. Doctor/Master=OTP. Actually, regardless of the slash, the way that they're just very messed up best friends makes me happy.
I did enjoy the ending, though it did go on-and-on-and-on, rather like Return of the King. I was disappointed that Martha didn't marry Tom (and did marry Mickey), and that neither Sarah-Jane nor Donna got a real goodbye (I do understand the Donna thing, but come on!) On the other hand I enjoyed the scene with Jack, and the scene with Jessica Stevenson Hynes made me a little teary. I even enjoyed the scene with Rose, which I thought was well-done and not too flowery or gooey or filled with declarations of love and heartbreak.
I'm slightly confused by Timothy Dalton being Rassilon and I really want to know who the Time Lady was (His mother? His wife? Romana?) but those are small things.
Finally, to everyone complaining about Matt Smith after his whole thirty seconds of screen-time, I'd just like to say, go back and read what you said when Christopher Eccleston turned into David Tennant, because I'll bet you said almost exactly what you're saying now. I say give him a while to settle in before you write him off. In five years someone will be saying he's the best there's ever been.
A lovely ending to a lovely series. Smithy's speech in the Church was absolutely perfect, because obviously they're not in love, but it's just as obvious that they are made for each other. I was pleased it didn't get too sentimental. It was nice to have Jason back. Well done for getting John Prescott and Noel from Hear'Say to keep up the continuity.
It's snowing again now. I'm going to make myself some coffee and wallow in my newfound crush on Jude Law.
