Well I'm having the best time in Chicago. I love this city. It's gorgeous and we're such a lot of fun. A lot of that admittedly comes from Fall Out Boy so far.
Saturday was an early start, as we headed back to the Clan store for the limited edition tshirts.
ditchwitchbitch and I were first in line so we got special necklaces that won't be out until July and we got to meet Jensen, which was cool. I bought the tshirt and a couple of fab ties for myself. If I have money left on Thursday I'm going to go back and get a ladybird hoodie.
From there we went back and got changed for the gig and went straight to the arena. No one seemed to know where we supposed to wait or what was happening, but we met some nice people in line and we all helped each other figure out where we were supposed to be. Me being an idiot, I forgot my TTTYG cd insert that I packed to get signed, so I had to run next door to Target to buy another copy of Folie a Deux to get signed. Kerry managed to get us some food but we really didn't eat a lot that day at all.
At 4.30 they opened the doors for the meet and greet and we formed another line inside. We were right at the front and got to talk to a couple of nice security people for the venue. After a long wait we got to go into meet them and get our stuff signed. Patrick was first at the table and I was so nervous and ready to not say anything and then...
Patrick: Hi
Me: Hi
Patick: (smiles) Oh it's a hometown gig for you
Me: (smiles) I came all the way from England for this
Patrick: (laughs) Yeah I could tell from your accent
By this time I was at Joe, (completely missing saying anything to Andy, sorry Andy) who smiled at me and then Pete, who I said hi to, but he wasn't having a good day, so I forgive him for not saying or doing anything.
Five sentences with Patrick made me all \o/ and honestly, I don't remember ever being so excited I was literally bouncing up and down. We had to wait in line again until we got our photos and I walked straight over to get between Patrick and Andy. Patrick just wrapped his arm around me and...
Patrick: Hello again
Me: (with probably a really stupid smile on my face) Hi
Patrick: So how long was your flight here?
Me: About nine hours
Patrick: That's not bad I guess. We had to fly back from New Zealand and that was fourteen hours and layovers
I think that's when they took the photo. I wasn't paying too much attention. Everyone is ushered out the door.
Me: Well thank you
Patrick: (smiles) Thanks for coming
And we were out the door again. I stayed ridiculously giddy for the next several hours. We managed to get right up front and after some horrible pushing and flailing in the pit during Hey Monday, we retreated to the third row, right at Joe's side of the stage. We were up close and had a good view. I will never like Metro Station, I don't even care, but All Time Low were really good. Cobra was amazing as always. Vicky T looked particularly gorgeous with a glitter thing on her face.
Fall Out Boy were spectacular. So much energy and the crowd was fantastic. The fireworks were really cool too. I think that's (now) the second best gig I've been too. (The first being the one I went to today, that I'll post about soon.)
After the show Kerry and I headed back to the hotel and got changed to go to Angels and Kings for the after party. That was a lot of fun. I was pleasantly surprised that it was just kind of like any bar or club in the UK. Cheesy music that everyone sings along with drunkenly - lots of British stuff actually and old rock. It was really cool. Most of the bands were downstairs, but Ryland and Vicky T stayed up the whole time we were there and Gabe drunk danced with Kerry just before we left and stuck his finger in her mouth. I don't know. We may have got a little drunk. I may have got a little more drunk than Kerry, but we had an awesome day.
Watch out for my next post, which will consist of adventures on Navy Pier, amazing pizza and Star Trek.
