Studio 60 2.3 & 2.4 Spoilers

Oct 11, 2006 00:55

I think my top ten things format worked last time so I'll stick with that.

1. Jordan complaining about the focus groups and how little use they are at predicting success was pretty much the way I think about things.

Jack: Clooney broke the dial.
Jordan: Yes because I need a focus group to tell me Clooney is good looking.

2. Jordan's sordid past. Yaye! Plot and characters development. I like Jordan more each time I see her. Although I fear an inevitable Danny/Jordan relationship that I just can't see working.

(As a side note, I would die from squee if they had Janel Moloney on the show as herself, just in one episode. I will do anything to see a Danny/Janel scene with them walking through a corridor talking. ETA I just checked IMDB and she was in Sports Night so, for the love of everything, let her be in this too)

3. The poll. When I told my mum about it she asked if Joey was organising it. (At some point I will stop with the gratuitous West Wing references I promise). The idea of asking someone if they find comedy patriotic or unpatriotic and it eating away at Matt, pushing him to hit a little bit harder - and Danny knowing that was what he needed - was pure perfection.

4. Matt/Danny.

In both episodes there were moments that just said "love" to me. In whatever shape or form. I know most of the people who are going to read this will think I mean it in a sexual way (and don't get me wrong, that would be really nice), but it's not all like that. Just best friends and brothers and caring about each other. Maybe I need to write some meta on my use of the word love when talking about my ships.

Having said that, them rolling around on the beach was always going to make me whimper. ♥

5. Danny dancing with Harriet.

6. Lucy Davies popping up now and again, even though it freaks me out a little bit.

7. Matt and the bat and the window. It was an obvious joke but I laughed good and hard.

8. Bradley Whitford getting all mean and bossy and arrogant and... *sigh* I think I may need to watch all of The West Wing again.

9. Jack shouting hysterically down the phone at Jordan. I love him.

10. The farce of the show at the end with them having to re-do it over and over.

Oh Aaron. My soul belongs to you.

I read a review in which someone complained that the show made them feel stupid because they mocked people who didn't know what Comedia dell'Arte was. I don't see it like that. I see it as Sorkin saying "I believe everyone who watches this show is smart enough to know what that is. And the people who don't know what it is are smart enough to go and find out."

aaron sorkin, tv - the west wing, tv - studio 60, pairing - matt/danny
