The new house is on a double lot, which of course means that I am ripping out half the yard and replacing it with garden. The back part of the yard is plenty large enough for a hammock and for the kid to charge about it, so the entire front will be flower garden. Home improvement projects proceed more slowly than planned, always. Still, today I finally finished painting the stairs & living room, put paint samples up on the walls of the spare room, threw out a box of random trash collected from around the house, and planted asters, daffodils, and tulips.

The weather gods have gifted me with a gorgeous long weekend. Yesterday we went biking; today I finally weeded the raised bed and put in half the sunflower seeds (the packet says to save half to plant a month later, for blooms through to late fall. So today we were supposed to go to some friends' son's first birthday party. I love a first birthday party, as long as it's not insane; 1 year olds are cute, cake gets smashed, and it's basically an excuse for adults to hang out, eat cake, and admire the cute.
