On our way back from vacation, we stopped in Matamoras, PA, and stayed in The Cleanest Hampton Inn Ever. (Seriously. It was extremely clean, and I've paid more for much worse rooms many a time. Hampton Inns needs to give these folks some awards.)

We chose that location so that we could go to Dingman's Falls, in the Delaware Water Gap National Read more... )

I can't believe how big he is! And he's blonder than he was last week -- a week on the beach with grandma and he looks like a surfer.

Oh, that is gorgeous!

I'd assume the spigot was for watering the service dogs.

Good point. That, and/or washing off messy feet. My feet didn't get messy, but my toddler's did, so assume messy small children are common.

>and on the side, low down, is a spigot.

As above, washing dogs; but also for refilling water bottles, collecting water in buckets for washing, etc. We saw these at train stations in Japan, there was a water fountain and about 1/3 meter off the ground a plain spigot like you'd hook a garden hose to.

Makes sense!

Also, I thought about getting you a steampunk dirigible piloting outfit for your birthday, because i knew you would hate it, and therefore it would be funny. unfortunately I had this thought earlier today, so no outfit for you. just know i had the THOUGHT.

ahaha. and I would have probably worn it!

(Also, all the cool kids these days are into dieselpunk. Steampunk is SO last decade.)

Matamoras, huh? I drive through there not-infrequently these days. Definitely looks worth stopping! Stairs and hiking are much more my exercise cup of tea. :)
