good day
wow...I just had the best day ever, at least the best day (by far) since I came down to Medford. This morning I was going to go to shabbat services, just to do something interesting and different. I drove all the way to ashland, and just as I get there at about 9:45 David (nathan's cousin) calls me and asks if I want to go down the river with a couple people. So I turned around and headed back, got food and clothes, and showed up at his house at 10:30. We drove for about an hour up past grants pass, and parked one of the cars at the lower part of the river, then drove one back up to the upper part of the rogue, where we unloaded the two tahitis and the kayak. There were four of us, two guys, a girl, and me. I paddled down the river with the girl (julia) and colin took the other tahiti, while david took the kayak. It was so cool because it was probably over 100, and whenever we got hot we could just jump into the river which was super cold and refreshing. Then once you get out you warm right up again, so that's nice.
We were on the river for about four hours, then packed our stuff up and came back. On the way back we stopped at a small quicky mart and bought ice cream. David tried to get a discount, since the expiration date was June 9, but the lady wouldn't give it to him. We bought it anyway...I decided not to eat any, because it was over 2 months past rotten, but they said it was good.
David is super cool, totally different than nathan but (almost) equally as awesome. I met their pig, George, who is huge and black and his nose looks like a cut off elephant trunk and his butt is all muddy. They have llamas too and ducks and horses and dogs and cats. It's a regular farm over there.
In about an hour or so I'm going to go out to pizza for leisha's birthday (the wife of the son of the people who I'm staying with, lives with us too), and then later David invited me out to a party at their treehouse. That will be interesting, I dont know how late I should stay out though, because we saw thunderhead clouds, which almost definately means lightning and a fire in the next day or so. God I'm in such a good mood right now. Work, fun, not boringness, today is a good day.
