I realize just exactly what I walked in on. A trap.
I start looking for some exits. What are my chances for a successful escape. All options seemed a little grim, but I needed to take one soon.
Run with Noah, go somewhere that no one knows about me and my son.
Change my name and flee the country. Perhaps London, or the house Marçay?
“Just one conversation and I’ll leave” he bargains
I nod my head in agreement “Just let me tell Maureen I’m taking a break”

“That’s all I need” He agrees. I leave him there waiting at a table
I head towards Maureen , and escape out the back of the shop. I get in my car and drive fast, breaking about fifteen different laws on my way to Little Bugs Daycare Center.
I get Noah and his belongings and we head out of Texas in that moment. Anything I need can be picked up later.
It almost pains me to leave him like that, filled with a glimmer of hope. But maybe now he can truly know what it felt like for me on that beach, filled with hope for a different, better life with him, Gabriel.
