did you know the okapi, discovered only in 1901, is the only animal able to lick its own ears? this mammal has an exceptionally long tongue like its fellow family member, the giraffe (a mammal that i hear also has a long neck and a long _____ ...strangely, i found a disturbing amount of okapi porn when searching through its google images, so maybe the okapi is also known for other long parts...k, this feels disturbing, moving on). With a tongue long enough to lick its own eyes and ears, hind flanks striped like those of a zebra, and hearing so finely honed that it could sense and elude approaching hunters with extraordinary skill, the okapi used to be as mythical as the unicorn.
ps. did you also know that the hippopotomaus sweat red? egyptians thought it was blood that possesed some magic capability, but it has recenty been proven that the the sweat is actually a pigmented sunscreen. pretty rockin.
