Selca Four: Mood Indigo

Taeyeon frowned and she felt her ability to speak disappear. "I will be giving you a call in about two months as to where you will be moving to. For now, enjoy your vacation."

"What about Tiffany?" she asked in concern for the other girl.

"She will be staying with Yoona, one of the other trainees, because she needs additional training. She will be leaving the apartment a week after you leave for your hometown. Your father already told us that he is picking you up."

She wanted to ask why, or at least protest to the plan, but she felt her throat dry up and she was unable to form a response. So instead she just nodded and then she was dismissed. But the thought of the vacation was still lingering in her mind.

--

She returned to the apartment with a heavy heart, as she was unable to cope with the situation. They were both leaving each other, and there was a distinct possibility that they might not be able to see each other ever again.

"Taetae..." Tiffany looked at her from the kitchen's arch. She looked so concerned that Taeyeon immediately changed her expression.

"Good afternoon," she smiled sweetly and approached her while wrapping her arms around Tiffany, holding her as tight as she could.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Tiffany asked with great concern. She rubbed Taeyeon's back which made Taeyeon forget about the pain momentarily. "Ummm your shirt is gonna get dirty from my apron."

Taeyeon broke away by reflex. Right when she was about to say something, she smelled something burnt in the air.

"So--sorry I was hungry. So I tried to cook." Tiffany pointed at the semi-burnt omelet. Taeyeon giggled as she kissed the back of Tiffany's hand and she smiled at the now blushing girl.

"Let me do it."

Taeyeon expected a smile and a thank you, but the kiss that Tiffany gave her made the task worthwhile. Taeyeon stole one more kiss before she took the spatula on the counter.

--

It has become a common thing for Taeyeon and Tiffany to sleep beside each other during their naps and at night. They often felt lonely without each other. When one had finally confessed to this, the other warmly proposed the solution of sleeping together.
With the cicadas humming and the wind soothingly blowing against the chime they had installed a few months prior, Taeyeon was so restless that she couldn't sleep. She was haunted by the thought of having to leave and perhaps never be able to see Tiffany ever again.

Looking at Tiffany's sleeping face, she caressed and stared at the beautiful girl before her. Tiffany was her girlfriend and it did not fail to make her heart skip a beat whenever she would reestablish that to herself.

"I love you so much," she whispered and Tiffany stirred. Taeyeon giggled at how cute the sleeping girl looked, like a pretty but very much seductive princess.

Failing to meet her standards for self control, Taeyeon held Tiffany's hand and kissed it. She thought that a princess must be rightfully treated; kissed only during the most perfect times and caressed in every situation possible.

Then she saw Tiffany staring back at her.

"I love you too," Tiffany gently whispered to her and all she could do was smile. She must have looked like a fool at that moment by looking so goofy. But instead of bringing light to her flaws, Tiffany smiled back which caused her eyesmile to show. And Taeyeon loved that so much that she grinned back.

"You've been acting strange all day." Tiffany whispered as if she was trying to be discreet as she could. Tiffany gently kissed her on the lips and she held Taeyeon's face. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing is wrong." Taeyeon replied with the same volume. Every touch she had received from Tiffany elevated her senses and every time, she felt an immense sense of want for her. She kissed Tiffany back and held her by the waist. "I just miss you."

"You always do," Tiffany looked at her before initiating another soft kiss, "but I don't hate it."

"I can't help it." And Taeyeon definitely could not resist the urge to kiss her again, "I love you."

"I love you too." Tiffany rested on Taeyeon's chest, "You're making me fall in love with you again."

"I don't see anything wrong with that." Taeyeon held Tiffany and she closed her eyes. Every single day had passed by with nothing but pure bliss and she grew sad that she would have to give it all up. Tiffany at this point became her everything and she wished that things would turn out differently.

"Taeyeon, kiss me again." Tiffany lazily said to her and Taeyeon granted her request. It wasn't long, nor was it short but just right. Tiffany nibbled on her lip, urging her to hold her breath. Her hands then ran over Tiffany's back and eventually she placed her hand inside Tiffany's shirt. Touching her felt right and Tiffany did not protest to it. Tiffany's bare back was smooth and she eventually let her hands glide over her ribcage and then she withdrew it. She then wrapped her arm around Tiffany's waist, Tiffany let out a small moan and Tiffany placed her hands around Taeyeon's neck.

"Touch me more, Taeyeon." Tiffany breathed heavily onto her neck and Taeyeon's ears felt hot. She felt heat coming out of her body, and as well as Tiffany's.

The sensation was completely new but Taeyeon was not ignorant about it at all. Under stimulation, she was expected to act this way, and though she was unsure of what to do, she tried her best to control it as hard as she could.

"Unnnn..."

Tiffany weakened after a few kisses on her neck, and her breathing became shallow. They were both ready and willing; however Taeyeon felt it was rushed and inappropriate for the time being. They were leaving each other. Why should they have their first time if it will only increase the heartache even more? So, with Taeyeon's immense self control, she toned the sensations down by retreating back to Tiffany's lips and gently kissing her again.

She knew that Tiffany was disappointed but she felt that it was the right thing to do. Taeyeon wanted their first time to be more special, not like this. Not when they're going to be apart for God knows how long.

Feeling a hint of disappointment from the taller girl, she kissed Tiffany again, with a slight bit more tongue than the other kisses.

"All I want is you." She whispered to her that sent goosebumps even to herself.

"Don't leave me, Taeyeon." Tiffany said to her but Taeyeon was unable to form a response. She did not have the heart to lie anymore, and she could not bring herself to tell Tiffany the truth. Tiffany loved her, and she loved Tiffany. And as cruel as reality may be, she did not have the guts to break the girl's heart.

So she stayed silent. Promises are meant to be kept and what Tiffany was asking her was something she could never fulfill.

"I know that we won't be rooming together starting next week." Tiffany said which caused Taeyeon to look up. She felt confused and as well as relieved that Tiffany knows. Tiffany then smiled at her and caressed her, "But please don't forget me."

"No. Of course not. I'm sorry if I haven't said anything." Taeyeon looked down to avoid Tiffany's eyes. She felt guilt and remorse. Lying or even hiding things from Tiffany was as grave as committing a crime, and she tried to think of ways to make up for it.

"But do promise me one thing," her voice changed sternly. Taeyeon looked at her and waited for Tiffany's proposition.

"If we meet again... Then you will be all mine and I'll be all yours."

Taeyeon felt somewhat taken aback with Tiffany's optimism. She was genuinely sad because of the fact that they were parting ways but she failed to see that Tiffany was trying her best to make things work between them. She felt bad for even feeling like this that she kissed Tiffany with much passion, as a sign of thanks and as assurance that she loved Tiffany equally--if not more.

"I'm already yours." Taeyeon pouted. She said it in a low volume that it instantly became sexy.

"Yah..." Tiffany snuggled close to her, which caused Taeyeon to smile, "you're making my knees weak."

"I love you."

"I love you, Taeyeon."

In time the rockies may crumble, gibraltar may tumble
They're only made of clay
But our love is here to stay [1]

--

They spent the next few hours lazily opening their eyes and showering each other with light kisses, as they laid in each other’s arms. Both were half asleep but nevertheless, they liked how each kiss tasted. Taeyeon's tongue against hers, her body against Tiffany. The things they were doing were borderline sexual but it also felt right. It felt so right that the two of them were fully satisfied, despite the fact that they're not even naked.

Tiffany's hands were always warm because Taeyeon held onto them whenever she could. Taeyeon often caressed her cheek, which she liked so much, and Taeyeon endlessly showed her affection.

Kissing her cheeks. Kissing her neck. Kissing her lips. Stolen kisses when they see each other at the academy. And many many more kisses.

She felt like she was married to the most perfect person in the world, with pure bliss surrounding her. Taeyeon took care of her and she always showed that she loved her back.

Though it had been fun for the two of them, their situation suddenly became cliché in the most comical way. Because just as how every fairy tale gets an undisclosed ending that is masked with the words "they lived happily ever after", Tiffany felt like she was beginning to understand how grave their ending was becoming. From tomorrow on, there would be no more good morning caresses, or glances of the smiling face that would greet her every morning. It was going to disappear into oblivion and she felt dismayed that there was a lot that they did not experience as a couple. They have not gone on their first date, have not kissed under the rain, or anything of that manner. It was really too bad and she was sad. They can keep in touch with emails or calls, but they knew it was all downhill from here.

They were already drifting away by not being able to be with each other. The distance will be too much to take and like all long-distance relationships, they will turn sour.

But despite of all this, Tiffany knew one thing for sure; in order to keep Taeyeon smiling, she knew she would have to smile at her first.

"I made you some food for the whole five days. You take care okay?" Taeyeon hugged her from behind, with her head resting on Tiffany's back. "I'll miss you."

Tiffany turned her back around and she placed her arms on Taeyeon's shoulder. They looked into each other's eyes, slowly drowning out the music from the background and they tenderly kissed. Whispers of affection followed and the kisses intensified.

"I'll miss you too." Tiffany softly said after ending everything with a hug.

--

Goodbyes were exchanged, kisses were given out, and doors were opened and shut. Hearts were broken, and the love that was robbed from the both of them, was now replaced with loneliness. Tiffany would often text Taeyeon, and Taeyeon would text Tiffany back. But it just wasn't the same. Nothing was ever going to be the same.

Taeyeon walked around the small streets that surrounded her hometown with her cellphone clutched in her hand. In the last few days, Taeyeon has been aimlessly walking around, thinking only about Tiffany. Everything about her is on Taeyeon's mind, and without her, she felt like her life was being sucked out of her.

They occasionally held conversations on the phone but due to Tiffany's training, their talks were often cut short, causing her to feel miserable and lonely.

I'm sorry. I'm selfish. I just want you for myself.

She often wrote that on her phone to send to her. But she knew that saying something like that was just suicide on her part. Mentioning such an absurd statement, not only makes her sound needy, but it will also make the both of them feel helpless. They wanted each other but external factors kept them away.

Hi I hope practice is going well for you. I hope we can still see each other before I get assigned to the new dorm.

She texted instead. But her heart was screaming out something more intense.

--

Their conversations started to grow awkward and Tiffany was aware that this was because of the sadness and the loneliness they both felt.

They often asked each other how they were doing, that they hoped to see each other again after the summer, but they both knew it was already futile. The chances of them being in the same dorm again were quite slim, given the fact that there were about 300 trainees in their agency.

Tiffany laid in bed and increased the volume of her earphones to block out the moaning done by her roommate, Yoona and another trainee named Seohyun.

I miss you so much. My heart is still yours.

She typed but didn't dare to send. Sending it meant that she would have to brace for the inevitable, to feel useless and to make Taeyeon feel helpless.

Her heart was hurt and she often cried because of it.

Always get that mood indigo,
Since my baby said goodbye.
In the evenin' when lights are low,
I'm so lonesome I could cry. [2]

--

Taeyeon opened her eyes and she heard nothing but noise from her record player. It was the end of the vinyl track and she had to change it now. She had just woken up from her nap, and she immediately checked her phone for any new messages. She instead found 15 missed calls from Tiffany. "Hello?" Taeyeon asked after hearing the dial tone. But there was no other sound except muffled noises from the other end and she assumed that Tiffany must have been crying, "Hello? Tiffany?"

"T--Taeyeon..." she heard in between muffled cries.

"Pani-ah... Are you okay? What happened?" Taeyeon tried to console her, "Is it your roommate?"

She heard nothing but sobbing from Tiffany and she immediately felt hurt.

"Taeyeon I miss you. I miss you so much. It hurts. Please come back." Tiffany finally said.

Taeyeon was guilt-stricken though it was not their fault. They had to leave the apartment and Taeyeon had to go back to spend time with her family. It wasn't anyone's fault, but for Taeyeon, she felt fully responsible for Tiffany's pain.

"Please...come back." Tiffany cried some more, "I'm sorry but I miss you so much. I can't take this."

She would do it in a heartbeat if she could.

But she couldn't. She was only 16 and there was no way that her father would allow her to travel to Seoul all by herself for no apparent reason at all. And besides, what would she say? She wants to see her old roommate? Her roommate needs her right now?

All the reasoning she processed broke her heart even more. Her tears began to flow out of despair and she heard Tiffany weep along with her. They couldn't be together and there was nothing she could do about it.

She closed her eyes and laid on the bed with the phone still on her ear. Taeyeon took deep breaths to calm herself down. Even breathing at that point reminded her of the pain she is feeling in regards to Tiffany.

"I'm sorry. I can't just go there that easily. I really do miss you too." she said it in the most sincere way possible, "I miss everything about you and I'm really lonely here too."

"Then come back..." Tiffany insistently whined.

"I would’ve done that on the day I walked out of that door if I could. You know how much I love you."

"I love you so much, Taeyeon."

"I love you too, Tiffany. I'm sorry I can't do anything about this."

"No... It's okay." Tiffany's voice was now clearer than before, "I just had a bad dream and I woke up scared...I'm the one that should be sorry."

"I would have hugged you if I could right now." She said after stirring her body to a more comfortable position.

"Do you miss me?" Tiffany had stopped crying. Taeyeon smiled to herself after hearing her. Here she is again, she thought, the infamous shy princess-like Tiffany.

"More than you'll ever know" Taeyeon closed her eyes and concentrated on Tiffany's voice, noting that it was quite soothing to her senses.

"What do you miss?" Tiffany continued on.

"Your smile that I see when I wake up in the morning" she said and Tiffany replied with a sound of approval, meaning that she can continue.

"Your light snoring that's so adorable to watch."

"The smell of your perfume on my sheets that makes me miss you whenever you're out and I take a nap."

"Your hand on mine."

"Do you miss my kisses?" Tiffany interrupted her and it caused her to grin again. Taeyeon loved anything that Tiffany did and she would be lying to herself if she never liked any of the kiss they shared.

"Of course. I miss the way you grab my arm as if I'll let you go. I miss how you wrap your arms around my neck as we kiss."

"Taeyeon...I miss how your body fits against mine..."

Taeyeon heard heavy breathing from the other end of the phone receiver.

"Taeyeon, I miss you so much...mmmm..."

After hearing the moan coming from her, Taeyeon felt alarmed at Tiffany's actions but she also felt the pit of her stomach.

"I miss your hands..Unnnn Taeyeon...more"

She tried to conceal it but Tiffany's moaning not only sent chills down her spine but rather, it also aroused her. Never had she heard Tiffany say her name so sexually and she would have gone all the way if they were together.

"W--what are you doing?" She stuttered.

She did not hear a response from Tiffany but rather, she heard more moans.

"I've been thinking about how you used to kiss and touch me. I miss all of it. I want you so much."

The moans increased and Taeyeon felt disappointed. If she went on with this, their first time would be remembered as something they did by themselves without actually being together. It sounded laughable and desperate at the same time. As much as Taeyeon wanted this, she knew now was not the right time.

"Tippani..." she started in a concerning manner, "stop. Please stop."

Tiffany did not reply but the noise had stopped. Taeyeon was fully aware that she had hurt the girl.

"Why? Are you going to refuse me again?" Tiffany's voice sounded shaky and she immediately felt guilty. This time, she was not refusing because she felt that they were not ready but rather she did not want their first time to be over the phone. She would rather be next to Tiffany, holding her and touching her, but she was already aware that the younger girl had misunderstood her.

"I don't want our first time to be like this." she reasoned out but Tiffany had stopped responding, "When we see each other. I promise we can."

And there was still no response.

Taeyeon thought that Tiffany must have been crying at this point because even she felt the immense pain. She was hurting her and what was happening was beyond her control. She was already breaking each other's heart.

"I love you Tiffany. I love you so much." was all she could say while wiping away her own tears. It was painful to say such words without being given the chance to prove it. "I'm so sorry. I really am."

Tiffany's silence gave way to a heavier heart and it was getting harder to breathe by the second.

"I love you so much. Please answer me..."

She wanted to rip her heart out, to get rid of the pain she was feeling right now. To stop the hurt that was numbing her body by the second. Tiffany was slipping away from her and she could not take it. There was no way that she could take it. She loved her so much, and at that moment, she could only wish that Tiffany felt the same.

"Tiffany...I love you."

"I love you too, Taeyeon..." then a silence followed along with some noise coming from a person who may be talking to Tiffany, "I--I have to go now. Bye."

Then right after the dial tone went dead, Taeyeon was unable to feel anything but pain radiating from her heart.

--

Her days looked the same. She woke up, and went to vocal practice, returned home to take a nap, practice a bit more then listened to music until she fell asleep. Once in a while, she would have dinner with Yoona, her excessively flirtatious roommate, or with Jessica. They both often asked about Taeyeon, especially Yoona who she found out was Taeyeon's fellow trainee in the academy that their company had. But lately, both have not mentioned Taeyeon to her once, and Tiffany knew the cause.

It wasn't like she was blind or dumb that she did not realize that they would break up, but it was just that she did not expect herself to call it off. She had stopped calling Taeyeon and Taeyeon mutually returned the gesture.

Although she may have misunderstood Taeyeon's intentions of refusing, it was hard for her to accept Taeyeon's refusal, especially during all the times she had tried. Tiffany wanted to understand Taeyeon's rationale--or at least she tried to, but it was hard. How could she make herself not be hurt by Taeyeon's actions? Though she felt selfish, there was no point in feeling remorse. The reality will stay the same, she was trapped in this apartment with Yoona and her girlfriend moaning in the background, and Taeyeon is stuck in some rural village till God knows when.

She closed her eyes instead, pretending not to think much about what was happening, but there was no point. Two full months of Taeyeon gone, and she was still on her mind. She missed everything and she was becoming desperate, so again for the nth time today, she looked at her phonebook and stared at Taeyeon's number, contemplating if she should call. But of course, like all cliché moments seen in movies, she closed her phone and tossed it aside.

Tiffany then reached for her music player and played Taeyeon's jazz playlist and as she listened to them play, she started to remember all the things she did with Taeyeon. And at that moment, she was content without her.

At least for now.

Dreaming that you're beside me
I picture the prettiest stories
Only to wake up
All by myself [3]

--

She woke up with the earphone wires tangled on her body and it was already time for dinner. Tiffany went out of her room to see food ready. Yoona was making her way to the dining table with a bowl of rice.

"Grab a seat."

She bowed to Yoona and sat. Looking at the entrees reminded her of Taeyeon, as Taeyeon often cooked almost the same dishes.

"I talked to the manager today. We're moving to another apartment with two other girls."

Upon hearing the news, Tiffany stopped eating and hoped that one of the girls might be Taeyeon.

"Oh, do you know who they are?" she let go of her chopsticks and focused her undivided attention on Yoona.

"Umm, I forgot but I'm pretty sure one of the girls is my unnie, Kwon Yuri. The other girl, I'm not quite sure, but I heard she came from America."

She became disappointed that it was not Taeyeon and she continued to eat her food. Yoona on the other hand, was staring at her and she tried hard to avoid the glances.

"Unnie, cheer up. I know it's about her again but I'm pretty sure that you would be the first person she'll see when she's back in Seoul."

She didn't reply and continued eating. Tiffany wasn't necessarily upset, nor was she sad, but she was slightly disappointed. Their love was being severed, and slowly, she was beginning to dislike it.

"Well do you like the food at least?" Yoona asked again.

"It is very tasty. I like all of the dishes you cook. I already told you that."

"Really? Hyunnie likes it too. I mean, I cooked that for her once and she actually let me go on top and use the--"

"You don’t have to get into detail, Yoong." Tiffany smirked. She felt the irony of her younger roommate getting more action than her. She envied her, but again, she could do nothing about it, "Honestly, I don't get how Seohyun can keep up with you."

"It’s really more of the opposite. She has a lot more stamina than I do."

"Well I never knew that. That's good to know." She reached for her chopsticks again to finish her meal. Yoona was still staring at her. It made her feel uncomfortable. "What is it?"

"Unnie, I really shouldn't be saying this but I know you're acting like that because Taeyeon unnie won't let you get some but, ummm if you need a quick ****, I'm always here."

Tiffany was taken aback with Yoona's forwardness that she almost choked on her food.

"I mean, yeah, if you want to of course. You can just pretend I'm her."

Yoona's proposal sounded so absurd that it caused Tiffany to laugh. As much as Yoona was innocent and corrupt all at the same time, she still showed kindness like a little girl.

"You really would sleep with anyone won't you?"

"Ummmmm...if they're game, then I'm game...I guess."

She laughed out loud that she started to clap her hands. Was she looking so desperate that even her dongsaeng would offer her a way to release some of her sexual frustration? Nevertheless, she looked at it as if it was something straight from Yoona's kind heart.

"Okay, I'll tell you if I wanna 'get some'"

--

The day of their move finally arrived and she found out that she was rooming with Yuri and Jessica. She had introduced herself to Yuri, who was a bit quiet and reserved, but would completely change whenever she was with Jessica. She had already found out that they had been dating for a while now, and here she was, still hoping for a visit from Taeyeon.

At that point, she did not know what to expect anymore. Three months have passed ever since the incident and there were no calls, texts, or anything. Had they both assumed that neither of them was interested? Was it the end?

Today, Yoona had brought two cases of beer to throw a party for successfully moving in with two new roommates, but Tiffany decided to stay away from the drinking, or at least until late at night. She did not want to see Yuri and Jessica being all over each other, and not to mention Yoona and Seohyun.

So she practiced her singing and dancing until she was bored out of her mind. There was nothing left to do but hone her skills, as she already knew that she would be returning to her dorm to nobody but herself, to no lover, no perfect soul mate, to no Taeyeon.

She was on the verge on exhaustion when she took a break. Her vocal cords were starting to strain that she was forced to stop. She then checked her phone to see a missed call from Taeyeon and a message.

Tiffany, please keep your promise and I'll keep mine.

She thought about it, but she could not remember. Her promise to Taeyeon would not have been something she said carelessly, like how one can promise not to wear shoes around the house or promise to close the door whenever they walk past it. She could not remember and she became dismayed that it was that long ago already. All her memories of Taeyeon were beginning to fade away.

--

She returned to the apartment with the sound of heavy bass accommodating it. Yoona had invited a few familiar trainees and she saw Seohyun flushed and giggling next to Yoona. Yoona offered her a beer bottle, and she started drinking.

One bottle down and Tiffany felt hazy from her own fatigue and the alcohol, so she decided to retreat to her room.

She crashed on her bed without even noticing the person that sat on the once-empty mattress. Then she began to doze off until she felt soft caresses on her cheek that caused her to wake up.

A vague image of Taeyeon was looking at her, smiling, she couldn't believe her eyes. She forced herself to adjust her vision more and she sat up with her eyes locked on the shorter girl.

Taeyeon.

"I've already been yours." Taeyeon smiled at her in the flesh, "I'm back now, Pani-ah."

She did not reply--no, she could not. Her heart raced and she was speechless. Taeyeon was finally here in front of her and she could not stop her tears from flowing.

Because of the shock, all Tiffany could do was cry and hug Taeyeon tight, while Taeyeon consoled her.

"Sorry, I made you wait so long." Taeyeon whispered to her as they hugged. She could feel Taeyeon's heart, it was beating as fast as hers and eventually they began to breathe more clearly. "I love you so much."

Taeyeon broke the hug and they looked at each other for quite some time. Taeyeon's hand stayed on Tiffany's cheek, while slowly wiping her tears away. Tiffany eventually took Taeyeon's hand and she kissed Taeyeon like how she did a few months ago.

The kiss became intense as the seconds went by and this time, both of their hands were clumsily trying to get each other's clothes off.

Tiffany's hand on Taeyeon's shorts, Taeyeon's hand inside of Tiffany's shirt. They kissed and kissed, as if they would suffocate if they did not have enough.

Eventually, they were down to their underwear and Tiffany traced Taeyeon's flat stomach with her index finger. Then she bit her lip while looking at Taeyeon, and Taeyeon leaned closer to her face to get another kiss. Tiffany welcomed her by holding onto Taeyeon's arms to pull her on top of her, and Taeyeon started trailing kisses to Tiffany's neck and down to her stomach.

Tiffany let out a sigh. Then a few moans. Then a few more sighs. And a few curses, here and there. Although they had just started, each of them knew that it was going to be a long night.

So thus, :P please be patient with me.
