(Nerd alert in operation at this time)

I have come back to the frequently (if not always) wonderful Quiet, Please from the 1940s, with a couple of dozen more episodes on the MP3 player.

Actually the Wikipedia article is a pretty reasonable assessment of the series, so yay for Wiki; however listen to the "The Thing on the Fourible Board" (Episode 60) before you read the article for spoiler reasons, and preferably wait until you have a dark and stormy night. All the surviving episodes are at quietplease.org.

If you want rack up bonus nerd points, try "Rocket from Manhattan" (scroll down through this to find it), which was an Arch Oboler Play from September 1945, "Rocket" must be one of the first works of fiction of the Atomic Age, dating as it does to about six weeks after Hiroshima, to deal with the bomb. As Arch Oboler did tend towards the hokey, expect a lot of hoke but well worth a listen.
