Kincaid looked back at the small room they shared together. It wasn't so much a shared room considering she was out on patrol or training most of the time. His advice from Tara, to try and communicate with her, had failed. She seemed much more interested in the art of slaying.
With the two medium sized suitcases at his side, Kincaid placed the letter atop the pillow she hardly had time for. A part of him didn't want to leave and go back to New Orleans, but another knew it was for the best. He cursed himself for thinking this visit would change things for the better, and also for waisting the money on Buffy's credit card.
With mild hesitation, Kincaid grabbed his suitcases and airline ticket and stepped into the cab he called for a half an hour ago.
The whole plane ride, so many things popped into his mind. He thought about his father, mother, loss of telekinesis, the existence of supernatural forces, Rhiannon, school, life, his loses, his gains... everything.
He reminded himself to speak with Tara when he got home. He knew she'd be able to make a positive out of this negative.

THE LETTER:
Rhiannon,
I'm not sure what the status quo of our relationship is right now. I mean, when I look at it, I begin to think about the negatives... and it's never been like that before. When I thought about you, all I could do was smile. You were perfect in my eyes... but now, I'm not so sure it's like that anymore. I feel this... this big gap between us... and it's hard to feel wanted as much as I need, you know?
I'm sure you've been feeling the same lately... and honestly, I don't blame you. I haven't been the perfect boyfriend or friend that I know I could have been, and for that, I'm sorry.
There are so many factors that play into how I'm feeling right now. And I'm going to say this bluntly because I think YOU need to hear this. You're being a very big hypocrit and I can't be with someone like that. You're going out on patrol and training 24/7 and 1) it's not healthy, Slayer, or no Slayer, and 2) you haven't made the slightest attempt to make time for me. And if I'm wrong, I'm sorry, but it obvisouly hasn't been enough.
I came down here to be with you, to talk, and to settle the things we need to settle and I feel like you've disregarded everything I'm trying to do to make things work.
I'm not writing this to break up with you. I love you too much to do that. I just think we need some time apart. And when I say apart, I don't mean physically. I'm talking relationship-wise. We need to sit down and talk things through because I don't know how long I can go on like this.
I'm dealing with so much right now, and you may not know it. I'm dealing with the fact that I have no power, my father's death, and the fact that the police may think I have some involvement in his death. And on top of that, I'm trying to pass high school. And at this rate, I doubt I'll even pass. I have a few more weeks to bring up my grades and to take some make-up exams, just to catch up to where I'm supposed to be. And on top of that, Willow and Tara have been needing me at The Book Nook. So I'm sorry, I can't take everyone else's problems into account and disregard mine.
I just... Rhiannon... I want things to be the way they are... the way they should be. And I know it's hard when you're dealing with demons. The real ones and the personal ones. So please, don't take any of this the hard way. It's just hard seeing you committ to something you've reprimanded me for. And... I dunno. Just take the time you need here and when you get back, I'll be waiting. Think of this as Rhiannon-time. I'm sure you need it.
With much love,
Kincaid
