Whee. I have my own office at work. Finally! After five and a half years. I went up today to make sure I had all my stuff, but I wasn't very productive with unpacking. Mostly I shuffled things around. I think this is because the office is going to make me insane. The walls are crooked ( Read more... )

Traditional choices for the bride's attendants: Her sisters or cousins. His sisters or cousins. Her closest friends, either from school or from her current life situation. If he has sisters, find out whether his family puts a lot of importance on your asking them! My best friend in Nashville had to ask her fiancé's sister to be her maid of honor even though they didn't get along at all, because otherwise there would have been endless family drama.

There's supposed to be some kind of a formula for the number of attendants you have based on the number of guests you're asking, but I don't know what it is. You can probably find it in any basic etiquette book, if you care -- I didn't, and I don't think most people do these days. Also, some women are now asking close male friends to be their attendants (and vice versa); it's non-traditional, but not terribly controversial any more except with extreme conservatives.

And I would be happy to stand with you, provided that (1) it's on a date when I'm not otherwise committed and (2) you don't make me buy a dress. I've got pretty dresses in just about any color you could ask for already. :-)

Hee. Thanks for the offer! I have a couple of ideas, I jsut need to decide. Fortunately, Randy's family is very low key. No expectations about anything. There are very few female cousins at all (like, all of three) and I'm not close to any of them, really.

I think I'm aiming to just have two. I don't want a huge bridal party, and Randy at least wants some people, so two is the compromise. I might ask his sister.
