So, I made the trip up to Dallas today to the
DFW Humane Society to pick up my devon rex. Long day, with lots of driving, but I think it was so very worth it; she's currently got herself enthroned on the Ugly Brown Chair (tm) that I hate but keep because the animals like it. She's also been investigating everything, multiple times.
Pardon the terrible quality! Or, look at her
Petfinder listing.
She wailed the whole way home and when I got home I discovered she'd slightly bloodied one of her paws, although it doesn't seem the worse for wear -- she was rattling and shaking the door to the kennel a lot, so I think that's how she did it. However, I managed to have the world's easiest introduction to my dog. We tested her with him first and she didn't react any, so we figured we were safe. After I got home, I pulled her out, she purred a lot, so I carried her out to see hjow she'd react to the dog when he was loose. She purred while he sniffed at her. So I let her go, and the dog's been harrassing her, but she hasn't really done anything other than hiss and swat at him once because he's so overbearing. She's clearly not scared of him. The other cat, well, she's not scared of him either, but he did bop her on the haed when she headbutted him, and he's ignored/watcher her closely ever since. Should be fine in the end.
Still don't have a name for her, although suggestions are welcome. Currently I seem to be wavering between Dulcie and Saba
If you're looking for a Devon and live in Texas, they evidently work with a rescue in Carrolton, who gives them the Devons to adopt out once they're healthy. They had three to pick from, all females. They had two left after I got mine, Amber, who is very very sweet but dislikes dogs (she growled at mine; I think she's a bit of a diva) and, and Tina, who is currently terrified, so hissing at everyone.
x-posted to multiple places.
