i've been reading too much about globalization

I was reading CNN online today about how Bush is proposing all this freedom stuff to the UN to enforce over Iran and the general middle-eastern area with 'weak democracies'. And I thought that maybe Bush should take the "let's help them in a non-violent way by improving their economy, and then maybe through that way, there would be less violence coming from that area" approach. I mean, I know that won't solve all the problems of the world and everybody still has nukes, but think about human behavior. Since when did big guys pushing small people around solve anything? that only builds resistence and makes them resent you more.

Or maybe I am wrong in my optimistic and naive ideas.
