For years, Sarah Jessica Parker has been revered as a fashion icon. Now the Sex and the City star is attempting to make the leap to olfactory icon.

On Tuesday, Parker announced her plans to follow in the footsteps of fellow A-listers Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears by launching a signature fragrance line.

The thesp is set to develop her very own scent of a woman with the Lancaster Group, the prestige division of beauty giant, Coty Inc. The perfume purveyor also manages the aforementioned J.Lo fragrance and the eau de marykateandashley, as well as designer scents by the likes of Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood.

"The creative energy and dedication of the Lancaster Group is exactly what I am looking for in a beauty partner," Parker said in a statement. "Their admiration and passion for their brands is what I was impressed by, and I look forward to working closely with Lancaster Group to bring my first fragrance to the market." Visit for more:

Parker's first scent, which will supposedly reflect the "talent, style and confidence of which she has become a symbol," is due to launch in the fall.

We're thinking Carrie Bradshaw would be proud.

In the meantime, Parker's khaki-hawking gig as a Gap spokesmodel contract was recently extended for a third consecutive season.

While the ubiquitous white T-shirts and uniformly distressed jeans pressed on the masses by the Gap may not seem to mesh with Parker's style symbol status, the actor insists that she's a big fan of the retailer.

"I think the Gap is terrifically creative and inspired," Parker said in a statement. "Women will love the clothes for spring."

For those that still can't see Parker ever setting foot in a Gap to peruse the merchandise, she's adamant that her fashion sense has " no rules--thrift to vintage to off-the-rack to couture."

(Translation: she might shop there, just not much and certainly not exclusively. And probably only after hours, or if the store has been closed to all other customers.)

In addition to her responsibilities to the clothes and perfume industries, Parker has been busy inking big-screen deals.

Last month, she appeared with Amy Sedaris in the Sundance film Strangers with Candy, an adaptation of the Comedy Central series by the same name. It wasn't the first time the two had teamed up--Sedaris had previously guest-starred as Carrie's book agent in several episodes of Sex and the City.

Parker also recently signed on for the comedy Failure to Launch, alongside Matthew McConaughey. He, too, guested on Sex and the City, playing himself as an actor interested in playing Mr. Big in the film version of Carrie's column. (See a pattern here?)

Parker's not the only HBO alum whose life is heating up after Sex. Her former costar, Kristin Davis, recently signed on to play a suburban housewife who doubles as a private investigator in an ABC pilot titled Soccer Moms, both Davis' publicist and the network confirmed to E!
