You've got to be kidding me! When I said I wanted to go to New York, I meant for vacation, not when there was an infestation of creepy... whatever those things were. Crabs? Bugs? I don't even know. Are you people serious?

I can't even get web access for sites outside of Manhattan, what's with that? I'd really like to check my e-mail, and Sam ( Read more... )

!ic, we can't stop here: this is bat country, fucking up your parasite crabs, !text, worst vacation ever

You know, considering everything, you're really handling this pretty well.

I wish we weren't serious.

It's not the first time I've had big, scary monsters chasing me around the city. I wish I were kidding. I'm more concerned about how I got drugged so bad I don't remember how I got here.

I wish I could say it was the first time for me too. It's really sad when you get used to things like that.

I think a lot of us wonder how that happened...especially since, from what I gather, some of the people here aren't even from Earth...or the 21st century.

Yeah, see, that other kid was trying to convince me of that other world crap, too, and I don't buy it.

And yet you're being chased by giant, killer bug things?

I've been chased by bigger killer bug things than that.

Um...if I may interject? They're not lying or crazy, Mikaela. This is, ah, part of that looong explanation I'm about to give you. You might need to really open your mind up for this one.

[guilty chuckle]

Way.

I'm about to post now...hopefully I won't completely blow your mind.

Bobby, don't say anything. I'm trying not to repeat the Kirk incident, honest.

I'm holding my breath, really.

What's the Kirk incident?

You might for real when you read it.

Uuuum...[sounds distinctly embarrassed] let's just say that I tried explaining everything to one of the most recent new arrivals a week ago, and I overdid it and blew his mind a little. Or, okay. A lot. I usually run into new people in person, you see, so I've had a lot more practice telling all of this in person than over the network. It's a lot easier saying it in person; I think because people can tell I'm being serious.

I learned from that experience, though, and I think I've managed to adjust the flow so you don't get completely overloaded.

So, you, like, help all of the new arrivals like this? That's really cool.

So, Kirk is his name? Did he, like, totally flip his lid when you told him or what?

Well, I try my best. I'm sure I haven't met everyone, but...I seem to have this unexplainable luck where I keep running into people shortly after they show up here. So I do my best to help them out. I've gotten a lot of practice. I hope I was at least somewhat helpful to you.

Well. A little, yes. He took a whole lot of convincing, actually. I met up with him personally and take him to Pete's Tavern for a sit-down explanation and to make up for overloading him on the network, and then I think it was only the presence of Kang and Megan and my description of Pika that did it...

Sorry, those three are some of the 'interesting' individuals I mentioned.

You were... really helpful. Really, uh, overwhelming, but helpful. It makes... sense. I just have to wonder how I got here, still, and how I'm gonna get home. But, everyone's probably wondering that.

You really know people named Kang and Pika?

That's a relief to hear. You're really taking this better than some...at least you're accepting it pretty well, unlike those who just decide I'm crazy. Like Kirk.

Those are the questions on everyone's minds, and we're doing our best to answer them.

Yeah...Kang is actually one of my good friends here. So is Pika; in fact, he found me when I first showed up. Also saved my life. He, uh...he just happens to be a cat-sized yellow rodent that can shoot lightning from his cheeks.

See, the first guy? Thought he was crazy. Second through fourth, it gets hard to deny. Plus, Ed said he has metal limbs and I get to see them. I mean, the closest thing to that back home was that crazy decepticon bitch.

Anyway. So, yeah, it makes a lot of sense, is what I'm trying to say.

...This I gotta see.
