Pet-Abuse.Com - Animal Abuse Case Details: Two pitbulls shot 37 times, found in woods - West Barnstable, MA (US) Not much to say about this except that I'm shocked and disgusted. People like this are like bombs waiting to explode with pure evil. Found the following letter which I plan on sending as well.
The Honorable Tara Miltimore, Chief District Court Prosecutor
Office of the District Attorney, Cape & Islands District
P.O. Box 455
3231 Main St.
Barnstable, MA 02630
ph: 508-362-8113; fax: 508-362-8221
Dear Ms. Miltimore:
Please accept my comments about Todd A. Soderberg and Keith B. Kynock, two men armed with AR-15 rifles who released two dogs on a deserted service road and let them flee 50 feet before discharging 37 rounds into them. A steady stream of bullets blew apart Caesar and Hennessey, 2-year-old brother and sister pits bulls, as they ran down the road.
According to police, Kynock wanted to destroy the amber-colored pair (who fought with his other dog) shortly after acquiring them. He allegedly recruited Soderberg to help shoot Caesar and Hennessey, healthy young dogs who deserved a chance in a suitable home.
I understand both men pleaded not guilty to two charges each of killing an animal and animal cruelty. Kynock was also charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, failure to report a lost firearm, and leaving a firearm in a vehicle. Soderberg was charged for carrying a firearm without a license.
I respectfully ask you to prosecute Kynock and Soderberg to the fullest extent of the law, with the maximum jail sentence and fine. Please ensure both men undergo psychological evaluation and mandatory counseling. I urge you to legally restrict Kynock and Soderberg's proximity to animals. They should not possess, harbor, or live alongside animals in any context. Their vehicle, utilized in the commission of a felony, ought to be seized as well.
Soderberg and Kynock, both 26, exhibit traits regarded as high-risk for violence against animals and humans. Criminologists view the intensity of violent behavior (regardless of the victim's identity) as a precursor to future violence. Men prosecuted for animal cruelty are five times as likely to be arrested for other violent crimes, according to extensive research by Frank Ascione, Utah State University professor of family and human development. Indeed, police have already confiscated a 40-caliber Glock handgun, brass knuckles, a black ski mask, rubber gloves, a bolt cutter, and a police scanner from Kynock's car.
Randall Lockwood, Ph.D., regularly enlisted to aid cruelty investigators, law enforcers, court officials and mental health professionals, assesses the impact of an offender's form of animal abuse. Among qualities outlined in his "Factors in the Assessment of Dangerousness in Perpetrators of Animal Cruelty," Lockwood describes extent of pre-planning or premeditation and repetition of injuries as key signs of "psychopathic thought processes."
Kynock planned the slaughter with Soderberg. The men drove to a remote site in the Marston Mills section of Barnstable and let the dogs play before systematically inflicting multiple bullet wounds. Clearly, their actions suggest potential for future acts of brutality. Violence rarely occurs in a vacuum. Thank you for your conscientious action in this disturbing case.
Sincerely,_.___
