Cannon inconsistency regarding the Electro and Ianto's age- spoilers for 2x10 and 2x12

After watching "Fragments" and then reading the BBC website's email/messages/file information on the episode "From Out of the Rain" I found a HUGE problem with the shows cannon vs what is posted in the emails/files/messages areas on the site. Don't the people who write this stuff actually watch the show? Or is it that the writers don't have a clue what is being posted on the site? Someone needs to be checking both for consistency.Or was this inconsistency intentional?

So, I watched "Fragments" last night and was psyched to see them actually giving us Ianto's full date of birth (August 19, 1983) which makes him nearly 25. I can buy that he's that young, and it worked for me. THEN, today I noticed there were new posts on the "Ianto's Desktop" community that contained the BBC website extras of emails/messages/IMs/ file info, so I went over and checked them out. That was when I went WTF? Because in the episode infor for "From Out of the Rain" contains a pamphlet, "The History of the Electro" in which it states that the cinema was shut down in 1977, and after a brief 18 month reincarnation as a bingo hall it was left derelict for the next 30 years. See why this is confusing?

In "From Out of the Rain" Ianto clearly tells Gwen and Owen that he went to the Electro as a child with his father on the weekends to see the kids movies. Now, being that Ianto's age is established in "Fragments" as being 24/25 it would seem logical to assume that any movie watching he did as a kid at the Electro would have had to have occured in the eighties into the early nineties. But that can't be possible if the Electro closed in 1977 and did not open again for 30 years.

So, what I am wondering is was this just a mistake on the part of the people who write the BBC site's info, was this a mistake by the writers, or are we to assume that maybe the information Jack found on Ianto has been altered in some way. Is Ianto actually far older than he seems? And, why would Torchwood hire this 24 year old with no university education, no real consistent job experience and no above average scholastic record to work for them as a researcher? It just seems a little suspect to me. Am I reading too much into things or does this seem weird to anyone else?
