I have a question about last week’s episode 2x04 Meat.
The scene where Tosh is talking about being lonely and single and Jack and Ianto share a good old eye bonking ... does anybody else think that maybe Ianto isn't as happy as everyone seems to think he is?
After watching that scene (again and again and again ...*happy sigh*) I noticed that although in the first look Jack seems pretty happy, by the second look he looks a bit more pissy and then by the third look he is almost challenging Ianto (and not neccessarily in a good way). He lifts his head just slightly as if to say "Your going to ignore me? Fine. Bring it on."
Ianto during these 3 looks however is very different. In the first look he turns around and seems a bit unsure of what to do. He then turns around and it's almost as if he changes the subject to avoid having to look at Jack again. With the second look, even though he is blurred, you get the impression he is ignoring Jack. Jack is staring at him, practically willing him with his eyes to turn around but Ianto doesn't look at him. On the third look, he responds to Jack's 'come and get me' by looking away and taking a swig of beer, almost as if he needs to distract himself or give himself a shot of courage/strength so he can continue not looking at Jack.
I don't think I put that very eloquently (I not speak good when I no sleep) but does anyone see what I am getting at? I think if Ianto was happy he would have a smile on his face everytime he looks away but instead he just looks like he is trying to be mad at Jack (possibly cause of the whole Gwen/Rhys thing). It's just an alternative way of looking at that scene and I was just wondering if anyone else thinks the same way? Or am I ready WAY to much into it? Is that possible when it comes to observing the tremulous trials and tribulations (I obviously like to alliterate when I'm tired too) that is the Janto love?
Also a challenge - if anyone agrees with me, do they want to write a fic that deals with that alternative take on that scene? Or has anyone already written one?
