Breaking News: geek rants about comics on the internet!!
Apparently, there's a rumor going around that Batman is going to die this summer. If this happens, I will flip a shit. There is no way Bruce Wayne is going to die, and even if he does, he's certainly not going to stay dead, so no real worries there. However, rumor has it that Tim fucking Drake (the current Robin) will take over as Batman, which is ridiculous. He's too young, first of all, and Dick Grayson (the former Robin and current Nightwing) has been waiting for almost his entire life to be Batman. I know he became Nightwing to pretend that he was his own man, but that was a failure and a half. He wants two things in this world: Bruce's approval and to be Batman. We all know Bruce is resentful of his wayward pseudo-son, and he would probably request Tim to take over just to spite Dick. I was bad enough that Bruce adopted Tim and moved him into Dick's old room. I love Bruce and everything, but he's so often a bastard where Dick is concerned.
I don't want to imagine how horrid the Batfamily would become if Bruce died. This is going to be a nightmare. I generally find the canon DC universe to be a confusing mess, and I've become very good at ignoring aspects of it I find unpleasant. However, killing and replacing Batman is a truly terrible idea that will wreck everything, ever. Let us all sincerely hope that this is just internet rumor and we (by which I mean, I) got all worked up over nothing.
