I just arrived in Washington. It has hotdog stands JUST LIKE NEW YORK! And I've seen the Washington Monument, and the capital, and the Lincoln Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial... ALL FROM A SINGLE HIGHWAY! It's incredible! The hotel room is so fancy- it looks like I walked into my Aunt Kelly's house. The walls are purple and gold and I even have a pillow on my bed that is stitched in purple saying, "Sweet Dreams"! Maybe I'll just stay here and never go home.
I asked my Dad if the highway continued all the way up to New York. He said it did. You can imagine how tempted I am to just keep going. It's such a wierd feeling traveling by car. The world seems so much more open to you! You have a choice! You can stay in lovely Washington and then go home to Austin.
OR
You can NOT go home and go the other way which leads to NEW YORK CITY!
Anyways, I'm not sure what we are doing today. We only have half a day but we'll do something. Even if it's just walking. I LOVE walking! I LOVE big cities!! I LOVE Washington! And to top it all off- today is Lughnasadh and I was able to CELEBRATE IT! It took determination, corn husks, and felt but I DID it! All in the car! I wish Jenny would hurry up and get out of the shower.
WATCH OUT WASHINGTON! ANOTHER JACKIE IS HERE!
UPDATE
When I went to the White House, I saw the upcoming movie "Sentinel" being filmed in front of it. I saw Kiefer Sutherland from "24", Eva Longoria from "Desperate Housewives" and...
oh goodness
Michael Douglas. THE Michael Douglas. It was a little coincidential because just on this trip Dad was telling me things about him and we saw a program on TV about his and his father's life. And what do I do next? I see him filming a scene.
And besides THAT excitement, I DID see the White House, and then we went over and walked up to the Washington Monument and from there I was able to see the Lincoln Memorial behind the Reflecting Pool. I'm just so excited!! Now Jenny is in her SECOND bath of the day and AGAIN I'm waiting for her.
