Well i finally plucked up the courage to talk to my boss about stopping working earlier than planned... and HE SAID YES!! So summer holiday begins on Friday at 17.00 at which point i shall be driving like a maniac into Bath (to make a difference to my usual style of driving), shooting off to London and getting VERY drunk to celebrate so that i will look fabulous for the media spokesperson training (or trainning as the staff person seems to think it is written) on Saturday morning. With J the engineer (who might not actually drink...) J the rugby be player  (who DEFINITELY does) and C the Welsh woman, who can definitely hold a few. Yes, this is good.

And on Saturday evening i shall be meeting a small and fluffy person who is coming to stay for a few days... i have not yet let her in on the fact that since my parents are away we will be needing to look after the animals... The new 'senior' cat food (Mother refused to get them chicken breast/fresh ham, which i think is just *mean*) looks and smells rather like diarrhoea and is in those foil packet things - i have yet to feed them and not get it on my hands. Joy. The chickens lay in the wrong corner of their house, most likely to see us get down on our hands and knees in the dirt and reach in really-trying-not-to-think-about-what-are-touching to get them out. Although apparently there is a stick to assist... And the chickens also seem to want to escape from the run at every available opportunity, and i literally have to push them out of the way with my feet - apparently a growling person with arms flailing is now merely an inconvenience, or possibly an amusement. At least none of them have worked out how to fly out yet... Oh, and there will be watering. In the middle of winter there is watering, so there is most definitely going to be lots of that now.

On the not-such-fun side of happenings today i found out that a friend from the ski centre died a few days ago. She left about a six months ago because she had problems with her back, which turned out to be caused by a massive tumour... she was given months to live and turned out she only had weeks. Worst bit was that i found all this out by text... But i didn't know her that well, so more shocked and concerned for her closer friends (including the one who texted me) than upset myself. But yes, not such a plus.

To end with a bright note though, i am now officially a member of the Society of Childlike Grownups. This makes me smile, yes.
