Well, today was interesting. First of all, why was school not delayed/cancelled when students had to stand outside waiting for buses in -15 wind chill? And then, we had this thrown at us:
Over the weekend our choir room flooded. A pipe burst in the heater, which is near the ceiling, so there was apparently an actual waterfall, discovered when some people came to see a ball game, as water was actually spreading down the hallway. So, anyways, there had been an inch and a half of water, a cabinet is ruined, the stuff in it either had to be pitched or aired out/cleaned, over $100 of music had to be thrown out, etc. Luckily the pianos were on wheels and stayed just above the water! And it wasn't over the computer in the room, so good. But it was an interesting day, especially at 7:15 in the morning when the room needed a lot of work and we had to just put about 60 kids in a smallish/regular sized classroom and have them do theory work for the period. Fun time. And earlier in the day the heat had been on, which resulted in a damp/humid 84 degree room with mildew forming, the poor teacher who stays in the room all day wrote on the board 'I know it smells' at one point. So, to solve that, the heat was turned off, and the vents were blowing in air from outside. The room aired out, and definitely became less irritating to the nostrils and such, but it became rather chilly.

Moral of the story (or what I would like to actually happen sometime): Call a snow day!
