The fourth Girl Genius collection is finally out! I'm going to see if Metro has a copy of it tomorrow. This will be excellent, as it will finally bridge the gap between the existing collections and the online comics. I only managed to pick up one of the print issues from in between.
I watched V for Vendetta this weekend and it was good. I still liked the graphic novel better, I just like Moore's style of writing. However, they did a much better adaptation then I expected, and the modernization of the setting was nice. It retained some real darkness and moral ambiguity. However, it's much less pessimistic than the original.
I also went used bookstore shopping with Karen and picked up a few Phillip K Dick short story collections and a used copy of Hartwell's Year's Best SF 10. It's very different from the Dozois collection of the same year. Overall, I tend to find the Dozois collection stronger. I really don't like the little editor introductions in the Hartwell series, they seem to be about the most superficial aspects of the stories. Still, there's always a few real gems.
