we long to tell the future.

we watch the stars and
poke around the insides
of animals.

i study you
as you mimic the movement
of a celestial body
affected by some larger object.

unknown and unseen,
a force acts to move you
from the paths prescribed
for you and by you.

will you stay this course?
or pulled by some strange gravity
will you become a bright star
in a new constellation?

it is prudent to remember
that given enough time, and laws
larger than ourselves,
even the moon can eclipse the sun.
