That's just not probable

Ok, I was paying Warhammer 40k on a Campaign they're holding down at the shop and my luck is just astonishing. ><

Ok, to explain. In these small games two of my models have heavy weapons, Plasma cannons. Very terrible things, they can take out multiple enemy models in one shot. The thing is, they have to hit in the first place. I need a three or better on a dice roll to fire one successfully. So I have 2/3rds if a chance to fire one. Good right? Well, I would think so. However, if I roll a one on the dice the cannon not only doesn't fire but it overheats and risks killing the model holding it. So the only way to not fire while keeping my models safe would be to roll twos.

I had sixteen shooting phases spread across three games, with two cannons each time. I was able to fire the cannons about twenty two times. I actually hit six times but missed over eighteen! And that's not the improbable thing, the improbable thing is that over a dozen of those misses where twos. One after the other I kept rolling twos. In one instance, over three phases, six shots, each attempt came back a two.

Needless to say, with only that firing line making up the bulk of my forces, the lack of any serious punch caused the tides to turn against me quickly. ><
All I could do was just sit back and laugh with the rest of the guys at my abysmal luck.
I came out even in the end, one win, one loss and a draw but I had fun all the same. Lets just hope my luck improves before the tournament next week. :p

I could almost hear my units say: 'Eh, I really don't feel like doing anything right now.'
Good grief... *shakes head* ^^;
