Nightmare One: The White Road, The White Moon

Oct 07, 2009 15:21

The road was lit by the moon light, it was bone white. When he stepped onto it, it rippled like water, but stayed solid beneath him. He could not see the landscape, only the road and the moon, the fiendishly grinning moon. Far in the distance he could hear laughter and music, so far ahead that the twinkling lights could have been a party, or merely distant stars.

Ghosts and echoes drifted past him in the dark as he walked, and pale dead things brushed his face with their clammy, butterfly light fingers. Dread gripped his heart and he walked faster to escape them, heading for the distant sounds of laughter, but the farther he went, the more crowded the ghosts became.

He stopped to look behind himself, to see how far along the white road he’d gone, but it was black behind him, his shadow obscuring the steps he’d taken.

No, devouring them. Eating away where he’d been. Erasing his path back to where he’d started. The only way was forward along the bone white, death white, road.

He looked into the shadow and saw the glowing eyes of a monster. Sharp pain lanced through his head as he met those eyes.

Jack woke, sweating, from the nightmare. His pillowcase was stained with blood. It covered his face, but there was not a mark or wound on his body.

((OOC: Note that these nightmares have nothing to do with Edensphere or its plot. They are relevant only to Jack's Noah and the process of it awakening.

Starting October 7, Jack will have this nightmare reoccurring every other night to every night for a number of weeks. He'll wake up in the same manner each time he has the dream.))
