For the most part, Kaito's world is pretty typically normal. Sorcery magic doesn't exist (or rather, isn't supposed to exist), and it's pretty generally accepted that supernatural things are just stories and such. He hails from a mystery series so the presence of witches and things would kind of ruin the cases, especially if the answer to some of them was A WITCH DID IT |D Any 'magic' present in the series (including Kaito's) is usually just a complex sleight performed by a magician and thus has some sort of 'trick' behind everything.

HOWEVER, Kaito's side of his canon contains Akako, who is a bit of an anomaly in his world since she is a witch with honest sorcery magic and things like that. She was actually written into the canon before it became a mystery series as a ~*love rival*~, and thus she is mostly seen trying to enchant Kaito into falling in love with her (which is is wholeheartedly resistant to). She doesn't really play a huge role in cases or anything like that so her magic doesn't really affect the mysteries or anything, but her presence kind of hints that maybe just a little bit of actual magic exists in Kaito's world, it's just super rare and unheard of and barely anyone knows about it!

What are Tiffany's views on magic, as a witch?

. . . The truth of the matter is, Tiffany was not born a witch. She just decided to be one and strong-armed the universe into giving her power when she really needed it. At the age of nine. This was basically confirmed in the last book when it is revealed that her natural talent is making cheese.

So magic is something that Tiffany wants because she needs it to protect her land, but she knows that she's going to pay a price for using it because there is no such thing as a free lunch. She follows her unofficial mentor's stance on magic--which is to use it sparingly and if you really have to use the big guns, you'd better be prepared to pay up later. Oh, and don't lose because that's really embarrassing despite the fact that you might be too dead or gone to know what to be embarrassed about.

She gets that you don't really need magic to do most things and that a witch's work is mostly about dealing with people and their problems . . but she has a cynical side that she suppresses quite frequently because she is a teenaged girl who knows that she's a bit smarter than other people. Apparently, this is also part of being a witch at home and Tiffany is coming to terms with that part of the craft.

So what sort of magic trick is Kaito's favourite?

Anything created by his dad, I think, since his dad was the magician he admired the most, and Kaito pretty much inherited most of Toichi's bag-o-tricks when his father passed away. I think his favorite trick to perform for others, however, is the one where he makes a flower appear out of thin air right into his hand. It's simple and yet usually has that 'wow' effect that he aims for when performing, aaand he might be a little bit biased toward it because (in my headcanon) it was the first one he ever learned. And it's probably Aoko's favorite, too. Which helps.

What would Tiffany's opinion on sleight-of-hand magic be? The kind meant to entertain? :O

. . . It beats the man who puts weasels down his trousers for a living as entertainment hands down.

So long as it's not the sort meant for cheating or tricking people, she's fine with it. Witches do a little bit of trickery when it's necessary too--mainly because people like to think that magic is being used instead of plain old common sense.

Does Kaito plan to do a magic show in Camp?

Yup! Lambdadelta pretty much challenged him to perform his best magic, so he's definitely planning on putting on a show to show her what he can do and stuff. That, and he just loves performing in general and he thinks it'd be a great idea to put on on to keep himself and everyone else entertained. IT'S MY NEXT POST IDEA FOR HIM ACTUALLY, I just am waiting for an ideal moment to post it :O

Do you have any app plans for the near future?

Cheer Camp up, Kaito!

Maybe . . . but that might have to wait until October or November because I am up to my neck in work.

Reverse?
