SHE DOES. I know nothing of her canon but I really want to look into it now because she is adorable.

COMPLICATED. Kaito is a very adaptive person, so generally he can adjust to new situations easily without breaking stride. Camp, however, is something completely different, and he's still trying to figure out how to get 'used' to this place without becoming too okay with being here. He had a little exposure to the unusual back home (a witch named Akako, crazy mad scientists and robot clones, etc), but none of that really prepared him for how WEIRD Camp is, and although he is past the initial "wtf is gonig on here" reaction, he's still susceptible to being taken by surprise and probably won't get over that for a while.

He also is pretty irritated at Camp in general for keeping him here against his will, which is one reason he doesn't want to become too comfortable here. Being a thief and incredibly independent to boot, Kaito really hates being restrained against his will, and in that way Camp is... almost reminiscent of prison, even if it's not as bad as one. It doesn't help that he has a lot of important things to do back at home (his search for Pandora and such), so no matter what people tell him he's going to snoop around for information that may lead to a way out, because in his mind he absolutely cannot stay here. He would probably be more urgent about leaving if he hadn't been told time doesn't pass the same at home as it does in Camp, but the fact that he has been informed it's likely he'll return to Ekoda at the same moment he left helps him breathe a little easier and take his investigation one step at a time.

It also helps that, while Camp may restrict him in ways he haaates being restricted, he knows that it could be worse. There are people here he likes, people here who are helpful, and it's not like it prevents him from snooping around or having fun or whatever. There are plenty of lighthearted distractions that make him feel a bit better about being here, even if he'll never, ever stop trying to find a way out to return to his mission at home.

And because I just realized I didn't ask for the relationship meme-- Alice's thoughts on Kaito?

You should read it~ It's Alice In Wonderland on crack, with added mindfuck.

Alice likes Kaito a lot! She's a sucker for cool stuff like magic tricks. Not to mention, Kaito pings her right in her sarcasm area. He's fun and funny. It's so nice to have someone to joke around with.

She definitely considers him a friend and probably drags him on some of her camp adventures. She likes the banter they have and just all-around enjoys his company.

BUT SHE IS MORE WARY BECAUSE HE CAN TEASE HER NOW. Alice does not like to be teased! Back home, she is the cute one. Her sister Lorena is pretty and mature, while Alice is cute and well, Alice. Even then, it's not normal for people to compliment her. IT'S WEIRD! I'M NOT NICE OR PRETTY. OMIGOD GET OUTTTT. It is very embarrassing. Eeeeeven if Kaito calling her pretty hit her right in the dere. SO DON'T TEASE ME, BRO. Except do, because it's hilarious.

What is Kaito's canon about? Because I am a horrible sinner and only know that he is a sekrit magician thief person thing.

Crack + mindfuck make any classic story 100x better 8)

Haha, Kaito would be totally game for Camp adventures; it would keep him preoccupied and he'd probably have a ton of fun during them too XD

The answer to that question depends on which side you're reading, orz. DC (English name, Case Closed) is a story about a high-school detective who was given some poison that was supposed to kill him but wound up turning him into an eight-year-old boy instead. It's a basic mystery series with tons of who-done-it fillers and stuff, and Kaito really only appears in that series in a limited capacity as the side character Kaitou Kid to provide a thief rival for the main detective. The main plot is about the shrunken detective investigating into the case of his own shrinking and trying to catch the bad guys who did it, but lol Gosho seems to only believe in plot every 500 chapters or so :[ (it is currently at near-800 and counting).

MK is Kaito's series, which runs parallel DC and details Kaito's adventures as the MYSTERIOUS THIEF IN WHITE. It came first (all the way back in 1988) but was discontinued (for the most part) because it wasn't super popular, so it's only four volumes long (though Gosho started adding to it every once in a while when Kid started making appearances as a side character in DC, which is why the artwork shifts from being GODAWFUL in the earlier chapters to halfway decent in more recent ones). In MK, Kaito basically figures out his dad, who was a famous magician killed in a 'stage accident,' was actually the world's greatest phantom thief, Kaitou Kid, and that his death was really a murder, not an accident. Kaito takes up the mantle in an attempt to find out who killed papa, and during his heists he discovers papa Kuroba was killed because of an immortality-granting gem called Pandora. So now, he's no a quest to find Pandora and destroy it before his father's murderers do in the name of his papa. It's not completed and probably won't be for a while since Gosho works on DC more, but it's a very lighthearted (and somewhat cracky) series that I very much enjoy! O-obviously.

It also contradicts the basic setup of the DC universe, whoops. Since DC is a mystery, magical characters shouldn't exist and there should always be a human explanation for any magic that does happen (like Kaito's sleight-of-hand), but in MK there's Akako who is an actual, legitimate witch complete with supernatural powers and everything, so... |D

Speaking of magic, what is Alice's opinion on it? Both the tricksy stuff that Kaito does, and actual, real magic?

Actual magic...shouldn't exist. It's not supposed to be real. This is real life. Not a fairytale. Magic has no place here.

BUT IT IS SO COOL AND AHHHH LOOK MAGIC. THAT IS SO IMPRESSIVE AND AWESOME AND SUPER DUPER AMAZING AND AND AND

But it shouldn't be real.

Fake magic is the sane except you only have Alice being excited and capslocky instead of cynical about it. It isn't real. HA. BUT LOOK UWAHHH KAITO SO COOL. REAL FAKE MAGIC~!

Any plans for Kaito yet?

Nothing noteworthy yet. He and I are both still relatively fresh, so for now I think I'm just going to post/tag around with him and have him meet people and build CR :3c Something more noteworthy is surely to come from that.

Right back at you for Alice :|a!
