The promo cards look great Jamie! Why not include your NYC address on the card, or something along the bottom that says "New York - Detroit" like companies with multiple locations have?
I wouldn't think the 313 is a big deal. I don't get charged long distance on my cellie so it certainly wouldn't give me pause. But I may hestitate to call if I didn't think I could meet with you face to face to go over design stuff.
(Well not really "me" and not really "you". I refer to completely hypothetical versions of me & you in another plane of existence who don't already know each other. I would totally call you for my design needs now, even in NYC. ;-) )
Including the cities is a great idea Jules. I'll definitely do that. And thanks or the thoughts and compliments!! Plus while I would like to work with you to handle your design needs, the sound of the rest of this other plane of existence where we don't know each other just won't do!
oh and p.s. I really like how you included the starting prices on the card. I think that could help out small biz owners' decision making process a lot - in your favor. Specialty services are always so difficult to judge in terms of expectations of budget, it seems like there's such a huge range, and it's easy to just rule them out altogether. If they hadn't hired a graphic designer before, that's a great way to offer them a baseline to know whether they can play ball or not. And your prices seem very approachable.
I wanted this card to almost take the first step with potential clients, like it breaks the ice right away so there's none of that awkward "can I afford this" mumbo-jumbo in the way. I'm looking forward to printing it and getting it out there.
