Worried about the National Debt?

I could not be any more tired of this pissant Republican grandstanding over raising the debt ceiling. This bullshit posturing about cutting spending is just that — bullshit posturing.

But if you're really, genuinely concerned over the national debt, I have a few suggestions for you to mull over.

• Immediate withdrawal of all U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, followed immediately by a five-percent, across-the-board reduction in the defense budget. God, I can feel the billions rolling in now!

• Rescind all Federal subsidies to any corporation that made more than five million dollars in profit. Why are my tax dollars being spent to bail out the private sector? The petroleum industry seems to be making money just fine, thank you. If they can't survive on their own, maybe they should be nationalized.

• Rescind the Bush tax cuts. Tax the rich — they can afford it. Why is my Social Security check at risk when rich individuals and corporations are rolling in wealth?

• The President to declare a national fiscal emergency and impose a number of measures by executive fiat, including (but not limited to):

• immediate imposition of a fifty-percent tariff on goods manufactured abroad and imported for sale into the U.S. Tariff to be paid out of company profits and may not be passed along to consumers. Tariff to remain in force until U.S. unemployment level returns to normal and the housing market has recovered.

• Individuals and corporations with a net worth of over five million dollars that have paid no income tax in the previous year will be assessed a forty percent emergency levy. It is time to return tax levels to what they were during the New Deal.

• Furthermore, corporations that have paid no income tax despite paying dividends or showing a profit will assessed a further levy to be forty percent of all executive compensation that exceeds five million dollars a year. If the sum of executive compensation exceeds subsidies received from the government, such subsidies shall be returned with interest.

Well, that's a good start, and I'm sure you'll think of other possibilities. Remember, if you don't understand class war, it means you're losing. CitiBank is SkyNet, so nationalize them before they nationalize you. My work here is done.
