Talking the Talk But Missing the Walk?

Apr 15, 2007 11:51

I haven’t been blogging in ages, but I’ve absolutely been meaning to. So many weeks have gone by with incidents that make me think Oh, I should blog about that, but somehow I never found the time nor energy to do so after.

Which, to be honest, is really ironic..considering the fact that my boss supposedly hired me for my digitalness and Web 2.0-ness. Unfortunately, it seems all I’ve been doing lately is talking about Web 2.0, but not actually getting to live it the way I was prior to starting work.

Now, I’ve been doing some thinking about this during my journey home from work some days, and all I could conclude was that there are only 3 types of living one can realistically do:

1)      Real Life living, i.e. no Web 2.0 living at all

2)      Web 2.0 living, i.e. little/no Real Life living at all

3)      50/50 living, i.e. a nice, balanced individual with good time management sense of both

Clearly, I sort of went from (2) to (1), but with the best intentions of (3) all the while.

It’s a little sad to accept the fact that one type of living has to replace the other sometimes, but I find it especially hard doing any catching up on Web 2.0 living after spending the whole day at work, coming home to cook, eat, clean-up, before finally getting an hour of zone-out time. Additionally, living in a different time zone means I’ve got no one to “socially-network” with anyway at 10pm UK time (5am Malaysia/Singapore).

Ideally, I would like to balance out my living and get the best of (3) in from now on, which will mean some backdated-updates (my favourite redundant term) on some of the more interesting stuff I’ve been doing since my online disappearance.

A quick prelude of these forthcoming entries (mental note to self, really):

* Dinner at the Hard Rock Café, London (14th Apr) - with lousy photos!

* Weather: Is Winter really ever over, and when is Summer ever coming, and why won’t Spring stay properly?

* Easter Hols: Staying with the in-laws and visiting countryside attractions (6th Apr) - with good photos!

In the meantime, we’ve got so much catching up to do around the flat that it’s not even funny. We’ve barely cleaning the place since the week before Easter and there’s about 5 million loads of laundry to be done.. plus grocery shopping.. plus the chopping of chicken..
ANYWAYS, I hope everyone’s had a fantastic weekend and I hope to update again soonish. Promise. Mucho love to all!
