The best and worst hour of Harry Style’s life started in a shop. Specifically Topman, where he was trying on some jeans in a fitting room, the silence of a shop midday Wednesday ringing in his ears. He’d been unemployed for a bit, and would love to make his money through a bit of singing, but hey, it’s not like he was trying out for the X-factor or something.
Now on this particular Wednesday afternoon in this particular Topman, young Harry Styles was quite unaware that said Topman happened to rest just above the crash site of an ancient alien space craft, flown to Earth by a nasty sort of creature that since died out, save for the hundred beneath Harry’s shoes. And when the timer on the alien’s cryogenic sleep ran out and awoke them from their long rest, well, Harry was fortunate to be in the place he was.
The place was halfway into a pair of skinny jeans, and when the Earth started shaking violently and Harry started thinking, Well shit, I’m gonna die in an earthquake with my pants down, he was thrown to the floor as the whole building swayed. As he covered his head, panicked but trying to keep his nerve, he heard a noise, strange yet beautiful. From his view on the ground he saw a blue box materialize from thin air, and as he tried to wrap his head around this, he saw the bottom of a door swing open, and a pair of legs step out. Then, in terror, he saw those legs walking in his direction, and he struggled with all his might to sit up and pull on his jeans. But too late, the door swung open, and he looked up fearfully to what he had assumed would be some sort of alien or magic serial killer.
The first words that popped into his head to describe the man were ‘absurdly pretty.’ He was wearing a white and blue striped shirt, red suspenders, matching red jeans and black converse, with a bright smile, disheveled hair and eyes glowing with excitement. He gave a frozen Harry a half smirk and pointed at his jeans.
“Really?” He lifted his brow. “Those aren’t going to fit at all.”
“You’d be surprised.” Harry replied, numb with shock. “I can fit into some pretty tight jeans.”
“Well you ought to pull them on, there’s about to be trouble.” He grabbed Harry’s hand and pulled him to his feet, and Harry blushed as he pulled the pants on. The building suddenly began to rattle harder, throwing them to the ground.
“Sorry!” Harry shouted above the din as he scrambled to get off the handsome stranger he just landed on.
“It’s fine, just get in the box, now!” The man in the suspenders jumped up with surprising agility and grabbed his hand once more, dragging him into the blue box he’d seen earlier. When Harry entered, he stared around the large blue room.
“It’s…bigger-“
“On the inside, yeah, I know, no time.” The man was running around what looked like a control system in the center of the room, twisting knobs and pulling levers, causing the whole place to shift.
“Are we moving?” Harry cried out as he grabbed a railing.
“Yup, far away from here.” The man spun around the console, hitting more buttons.
“Who are you? What’s going on?” He cried out.
“I’m the Doctor, this is a time-travelling spaceship, and I just made a trip into Topman to save the only sorry sod who couldn’t run away because he got trapped by a pair of trousers!”
“Hey!” Harry yelled as he was flung into the railing he was grabbing, the machine coming to a stop. The Doctor ran over to him, pulled an odd looking device from his pocket, and waved it in front of him, a red light blinding him and a strange noise whirring.
“You’re fine, no injuries.” The Doctor said. “Look, I’ve got to go, a shop just exploded and I want to get to the ship underneath the place before UNIT shows up.”
“Wait, so you’re just going to leave me?” Harry said, a hint of worry in his voice; the Doctor had protected him, and he wasn’t keen on letting his attractive savior leave that quickly.
“You can come with me if you like, but it’ll pretty dangerous.”
“I’m in.”
“No, seriously, I mean like explosions, killer aliens, enough running to give you a heart attack - that kind of dangerous.” He looked at Harry very seriously for a long moment, until Harry felt their smiles grow at the same time.
“I’m in.”
