How does one go about finding good divorce attorney?

I really haven't been paying lot of attention to Livejournal or Dreamwidth for some time. Things with my family have been really intense and work hasn't been much better and the last thing I want to do when I finally get home is deal with more people - even nice people who mostly seem to like me and don't expect me to drive them anywhere and don't ( Read more... )

thanks! it has gotten weirder. I was talking to my brother on the phone this afternoon giving him all of the info that I had gotten from Deb and from my cousin Ann, from the random over-sharing parent who called at work (Hey, if she wants to tell me all about her divorce issues, I may as well ask questions when it's useful to me) and from our friend who had gone through a divorce with more epic drama than even my family could come up with.

His wife overheard part of the conversation and got mad at him for telling his family all about their business. And I think she got a little bit scared because she realized we were actually, working through the problems and thinking things through and - gasp - making plans. (And why wouldn't you tell your family that your wife was moving out and taking the kids?)

then she admitted that she is having a hard time finding an apartment. And that none of her friends or sisters will let her stay with them.

And then she made dinner which she hasn't done in years.

...

See? This is the sort of crap we are dealing with these days. My dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer a couple of weeks ago and because of the alcoholic dementia kept freaking out anew at the blood every time he had to pee. And then he would be in a good mood. And then he would notice the catheter and ask why it was there and the doctor would explain bladder cancer and he would be upset for another three minutes, then fine, then why am I here, cancer, argh!?

then he had some exploratory surgery and they scraped out some polyps and the doctor said it was not at all aggressive and, apparently, he will probably die of old age before it will even affect him.

When you were a kid, did you ever stand in a corridor, whip a superball at the wall and then duck?
