Hey, it's that girl writing that stuff again!

Happy (belated) birthday to one adorable funny and entertaining man-child: manoosha! Here's hoping your day was full of hot, naked men! And rum!

I would just like to let you all know that I am bored. (This seems to be a recurring theme in my life, and in my entries, doesn't it?) I'm at the library with very little to occupy myself with, so please CALL ME.

So far this evening I've played around on the internet, hooked 156 paperclips together, written a review of Nicole Richie's really terrible reality-fiction The Truth About Diamonds, snacked on some cantaloupe, wished there was some wet paint somewhere on these walls that I could watch drying, pretended I didn't hear Eric when he tried to initiate a conversation with me, unhooked all 156 paperclips, read a grand total of .734788 pages in my algebra textbook, spilled apple juice all over myself, aaaaand now I'm updating this here journal for all of you. Don't you wish you had my life?

There are very few things that cheer me up when I'm bored, but at least I have these few things to think about while I struggle not to fall asleep at my desk.

First, the excitement of concert-y goodness is always fun! Tomorrow is Feist day, and this weekend, I will be going to Toronto for a Broken Social Scene extravaganza! Wheeeeeee.

Then there's this thing of great brilliance to laugh at. I discovered this gem a couple of days ago, thanks to a tip from a few of you on my friends list, and I've been giggling about it ever since. I don't know the person who created the poll, but it is my new goal in life to find this person and marry her (or him). I can't decide what's awesomer, the fact that the Pikes are described as being "culturally unwilling to use birth control" or that people are finally catching on to the fact that Claudia Kishi is and always will be "technically retarded." Fantastic!

Third, I've been listening to some pretty great music lately. The same four songs on repeat, actually (this is usually my way of doing things, don't you know). And because good, fun music makes me happy, I've decided to share it with you!
    1. Lullaby - Spook
Chanel Cole is one of the few good things to ever come out of an Idol show. With the help of fellow Aussie Idol contestant (and current boyf) Daniel Belle, and two dudes who call themselves Statler and Waldorf, Chanel started up the group (band? collective?) Spook, and last year, they released a beautiful little album called The Dusk Sessions, that I managed to get my hands on thanks to my dear cousin and the always lovely sajee. This song, and all nine of the others on the album, is a brilliant little piece of trip hop goodness, that I have been listening to non-stop for about a month and a half now.

    2. I Said Never Again (But Here We Are) - Rachel Stevens
Yes, it's Rachel Stevens of S Club 7 "fame." Yes, I'm recommending that you download a track off Rachel Stevens latest solo effort, the same one that flopped so badly it ended in her getting dropped from her current record deal. Before you give me one of those looks, hear me out, okay? This song is really, very good! If you like the kind of catchy, infectious, pop song that get stuck in your head and makes you dance around your room like an idiot, you will love this. I discovered it almost by accident a couple of weeks ago and have been dancing to it ever since. Now I'm wondering why it took me so long to give Miss Stevens a fair chance, because my pop-loving heart loves this, and yours probably will too.

    3. You Went Away - Tegan and Sara
You know how you sometimes buy an album because a friend recommends it, or you stumble upon it on the MEGA SALE rack at Best Buy, or you see it somewhere and remember that you really liked another album by that same group, but you take it home and you never think about it again, until you pop it into your CD player three months later only to discover that "holy shit, I love this!"? Well, Tegan and Sara's If It Was You ended up being one of those albums for me. I'd consider myself a relatively new T&S fan but I've known for some time now that I really love listening to their latest album, So Jealous, when I'm feeling sort of angsty or emo (plus, it's a really good CD to drive to). So when I fell upon If It Was You in the 3 for $30 section of HMV some months ago, I knew I had to buy it. Fast forward to last week, and I'm randomly throwing some CDs into the CD player so I can keep myself entertained while I clean. It didn't take me long to realize that this album is absolutely brilliant. I actually had a really hard time picking just one track off the album, because I'm currently obsessing over the entire thing, and I'm not sure I can put into words exactly what it is that I love about this song, so I just want to advise you to LISTEN TO IT if you never have before. Because it's just that good.

    4. I Melt With You - Nouvelle Vague
I was actually completely oblivious to the genius that is Nouvelle Vague until frances_rain introduced me to them some months ago, but I'm now so in love with them that I...can't even find the words! So I will just say that this cover of the 80s classic is fabulous, pretty, and fun, and leave it at that.

The last and probably most important thing that's been keeping me going on this pathetically uneventful evening is the thought that, in just under two months, HOTT STUFF will be coming our way. You see, dear friends, our valiant Frances has taken it upon herself to do my dirty work for me create something so classy and tasteful that there are no words currently in existence in the English language to describe it. Taking a hint from those clever Olsen twins fanmen we all know and love, Frances has created THIS for all to enjoy. Yes, that's right, folks: there are only 49 days until robi0688 is legal! So wipe the drool from your mouths, grab your trusty digital cameras and webcams, and get in line behind me, bitches, because ROBYN'S ALMOST 18, w00t!

On that note, I bid you adieu. (CALL ME!)

work, robyn's 18th, music
