I went for a walk by the river with my friend Cindy. The park people have placed bluebird houses along the meadow-side paths, and yesterday we saw a mated bluebird pair sitting on top of one of the houses! Cindy says bluebirds begin their nesting very early here ( Read more... )

They are perfectly wonderful to us. Jeff also replaced a spotlight on the back of the house that had burned out.

your landlord wouldn't happen to have any other property for rent...?

This is beautiful, and even though I'm looking at snowpiles higher than my head 2X that won't melt until JULY, I'm loving the idea of Spring.

I'm sorry about the snow! But to be honest, after this nice thaw we do expect more snow--February is our usual snowiest month.

Spring IS coming, though! And today my friend Cindy and I are returning to the river with her dog for another two-mile walk!

So what are you going to plant?! It's too early here to put out anything..we'll still have freezes for the next month or so:(

Kate's going to be doing the garden, and I think she's planting right away the early spring vegetables: snow peas, lettuce, and radishes. Later on, of course, she'll add peppers (she has those in pots in the laundry room to germinate there for about eight weeks) and other summer things. We'll have beans on bamboo poles outside the garden, and herbs planted at the lower end of it.

You have the BEST landlord, Jackie!
That garden bed looks beautiful. What are you going to plant?

We are headed for some nice weather again after this very rainy stretch ends tomorrow. 60's and even 70's!

Kate's taking over the vegetable beds, and I think she plans to put out snow peas, lettuce, and radishes right away (by March 1), and for later she has pepper seeds in the laundry room in covered pots (they take eight weeks to be ready)--I think she also plans on herbs at the bottom of the garden, and certainly bamboo tepees with climbing beans for later, too.

I am SO ready. Glad you're having such warm weather!
